Your favourite track/s by sub genre?

Post by jaydot » Wed Jul 27, 2011 7:55 am

As the title suggests.... and let's acknowledge sub genres for the purpose of this thread. :W:

Chilled/melodic/ambient-

Probably in all honesty one of Kaiori Breathe's. Or something by Eskmo maybe, idk. Percept-Intima will remain one of my favourite ambient tracks too.

Dark/dungeon/deep and minimal-

Sleeper-Zombies, J Kenzo-Roteks, Icicle-Xylophobia, Thelem-Drones,

Dub influenced:

Skream-Irie, DMZ-Haunted, Cluekid-Hovercraft,

Tearout/midrange/wobble of any type-

Prefer the Jakes/Lost/Coki wobbles to anything else, but then there are some good midrange tracks out there when i feel like it...

Garagey/two step influnced:

Synkro-Inhale, Kaiori Breathe/Tripwire-I'd Give Anything (Ghosts of Paraguay remix), Pariah-Orpheus, Burial-Unite

Go.

this is whats wrong with dubstep, too much thought into shit like this, not enough variety in DJ's record bags.

And i love how the o.g. stuff got subgenre'd out more then brostep did.

I think I could give you a quick overview of my favourite tracks of dubstep subgenres, but there is much more dubstep music out there that can't be categorized and many tracks I love dont fit in those categories above. I understand and love to discover new genres, but I view it as music history. Music has no concrete logic or actual rules, it is not judgeable and I categorization of music should either help you to find big masses of music in your library or understand the development of music and its scenes. There are elements all over the world of music that people tend to like and are used over and over and I love that the dubstep scene is so free and open to mix more and more rhythm elements from all over the world. Music is as complex as emotional psychology, and you could enjoy it more, when you dont think too much about it. I met many producers out there and some of them seem to love to bitch about music they dont like like depressive geeks, so do what music is made for: DANCE. Did you know that in some languages (esp. African) there is only one word for music and dance?
This art is music. It stands quite apart from all the others. In it we do not recognize the copy, the repetition, of any Idea of the inner nature of the world. Yet it is such a great and exceedingly fine art, its effect on man's innermost nature is so powerful, and it is so completely and profoundly understood by him in his innermost being as an entirely universal language, whose distinctness surpasses even that of the world of perception itself, that in it we certainly have to look for more than that exercitium arithmeticae occultum nescientis se numerare animi [exercise in arithmetic in which the mind does not know it is counting] which Leibniz took it to be.
