you can vote for name now..
or suggest some new name if you like..

i didn't put some names like "Next Generation Dubstep" in poll cos they sound too pretentious for my taste

Although it is fair to say that many will refer to this compilation as 'the dubstep forum comp', I think it would be wise to look beyond this forum and have it marketed broader?

Hence my choice for Dubstep Upstarts, which says more about the producers than the how's and when's of the compilation itself..

I think we should remind ourselves that it's these producers that fused the idea of the comp in the first place?

Why not have the ones that got selected the final say in this?

I tied it up. I agree with Dice. And I think Dubstep Forum Vol 1 sounds silly. We're producing a piece of artwork, not a bureaucratic document. Mind as well call it "tracks by new dubstep producers vol 1".

Just my 2 cents.

Are all the producers that submitted tracks 'new producers'? Just because they might be unsigned, doesn't make them necessarily 'new'. But hey its up to them. :)

Yea I thought of that when I said new. I really just meant unsigned/upandcoming/amateur/etc but just saying new is easier. But anyways I was joking when I said it should be called "new dubstep producers"!! And now its on the poll list. Cmon!! I demand it be removed from the survey.

What 'bout something like "All exclusives vol. 1",
they're all unsigned, unheared tunes not?

So why not use that then?

And Dubstep upstarts is kinda degrading imo.

Or "All exclusive, all unsigned vol. 1"

i didn't really mean to cause so much fuss by posting by suggestion. it was just a fleeting thought - really glad some people like it. i also understand why others dont.

and just to clarify:

all i meant was 'upstarts' versus 'allstars'; up and coming producers, ones to watch etc rather than already well established artists. don't think there's anything degrading about it. granted the word has some derogatory connotations but within music being an upstart is generally a positive.

in this context i think it obviously means 'suddenly raised to a position of consequence' rather than 'self-important; presumptuous'.

Couldn't it be any more unimaginative? Something like "Compilation on behalf of the dubstepforum.com collective in spring 2006 mixed by DJ N-Type"?

</sarcasm>

Seriously, the compilation name should reflect the style of the compilation itself. Is it really that boring it should be named as stated above?

How about "skunk works"? ;) Check out Wikipedia for the term if you're unfamiliar with..
