Re: OUTLOOK 2011.
My advice:
- Take a dust mask/bandana, or something to cover your mouth with. Last year the 1st 10mins of every morning were spent removing dust & dirt from our lungs/mouth.
- No need to learn croatian as most people speak English.
- Always agree a fee with a taxi driver before getting in.
- If you're staying in an apartment then get to know the owners (if they live there) as they can be really helpfull.
- If your apartment is down an alley full of apartments/local houses, then be prepared to see a lot of guard dogs. I remember last year one night someone left the gate open, so me & my 2 mates were stuck in a face off with an angry rottweiler... So remember that dogs smell fear haha
as for questions like best stage, arena etc.. I think thats all down to personal taste & working it out when you get there.

Re: OUTLOOK 2011.
Changes to the stages set-up this year anyway. Wouldn't be able to accomodate more people this year otherwise.
Re: OUTLOOK 2011.
Been looking to try and plan a re-route to Amsterdam on the way back.
I've got my transfer back to Venice Marco Polo and my flight home is at 12:05.
A quick search found direct flights between Venice-Amsterdam for £85 however its quite a late flight so you get to Amsterdam at like 23:00 then you have to get to the City centre which for me sounds like a bit of a waste as getting to a coffee shop in time sounds a bit of a stretch.
There is a bit of a more expensive alternative (About £120 - £130) which is a flight from Venice >>> Stockholme or Copenhagen >>> Amsterdam. (Bit of a long way round I know). However it gets into Amsterdam at 19:30 which is plenty of time to head to a coffee shop, check into a hostel and not be walking around Amsterdam at daft o'clock on your own.
I'd stay at the hostel i stayed at last time which had a communal smoke room and everyone was very friendly. Get a decent nights sleep and then spend the day in Amsterdam and travel home to Manchester the following evening with a flight at about 22:00.
I totaled it up and for the extra flights and accomodation it will cost me about £200 more and I'll have to sort it pretty soon.
On top of that i'll need a bit of money for food and enough money to get to and from the hostel/airport and that. I wouldnt aim to mooch about seeing as I would be travelling on my own. Obviously some money for a decent amount of 'Amsterdam Coffee' to toke on all day.
I'd like some opinions on my idea really. Would you do it if you could? The only thing that im thinking is..
How worn down will I be after Outlook. Would I be ruined and better off not bothering because I wont enjoy it as much as I think I would?
Is going on my own a bit of a weird idea? I know it would great with a mate or 2 but thats just not possible with my mates who are going to Outlook living in London and just about being able to afford to go there..
In my head I think it is the perfect wind down after a festival and something that I might look back on in the future and be very happy that I did.

Re: OUTLOOK 2011.
Whats the crack with the sunshine coach? Are the seats comfy? Do they stop for tab breaks/ places to buy food etc? 30+ hours on this coach sounds like absolute hell to me, but it had to be done due to funding
Re: OUTLOOK 2011.
How much time do you have between the flights? Make sure there's at least an hour between each one in case of delays. Nothing would ruin the trip more than missing a flight. The next worst thing is, if you do have a decent amount of time between flights, you end up sitting around in airports and by the time you get to Amsterdam you'll be all zoned out.Moultz wrote:Been looking to try and plan a re-route to Amsterdam on the way back.

Also, which day is your transfer back to Venice? If it's Monday, then it's all probably gonna be a bit shit. Would be much better on Tuesday. I had to do something similar last year - left at 6am to catch the bus to Zagreb, ended up sleeping in the hotel all day, flew back to London the following morning, sat around for 6h, then flew over to the US for work the next day. That wasn't fun at all. Probably didn't help that I came down with a cold during my 6h stay in Heathrow.
I think if you have all the timing right, it should work out well.

They normally stop for a bit in Munich or something, if I remember correctly. Just pray that no one shags in the toilet this year and breaks itboyley wrote:Whats the crack with the sunshine coach? You'll be pretty knackered if youre going on the monday after the festival.I remember being in an absolute state when on the coach to Trieste. Had some stupidly long wait there was close to a giant chunder there. Did nearly get arrested in Trieste airport for doing a ridiuclously loud burp though. I didnt get back to manc till like 11/12 oclock at the night after leaving outlook at midday and i felt like shit. Im staying for a few days after the festival this year purely for that reason.Moultz wrote:Been looking to try and plan a re-route to Amsterdam on the way back.

Im going from 30/31st-8th direct to pula with a stop-off in dam, sadly my wait isnt long enough to head to a coffee shop n that. But last year i got there a day early and left on the monday stopped off in munich for like 5/6 hours. I took about £130 in kuna and like £40 in euros. Its so cheap out in Croatia like this year im probs only gonna take £180 in kuna and another £30/40 in euros
Its still 2006
Re: OUTLOOK 2011.
I'm thinking of doing this, i can't find any decent flights back to the uk from venice, they all cost stupid amounts and are on like the 7th/8th. So i'm thinking of getting a flight to dam on the 5th or 6th and staying there for a couple of days... got one mate that might come but if he doesn't, reckon i'm gonna go alone anyway!Moultz wrote:Been looking to try and plan a re-route to Amsterdam on the way back.

Re: OUTLOOK 2011.
i'm taking £50 a day (£350) but it depends how many boat parties your doing and how much you will drink inside the fort (that isn't sneaked in)....doubt i will spend that much thoughMoultz wrote:In regards to my post above I would like to now how much people are taking with them cash wise. Cheers peoples. The excitement grows.
Im glad someone said about fatigue. Its the same after any festival. I didnt even touch any substances back in 2009 but when i got home from that festivasl i slept for 25 hours...
Think im gonna sort a trip out for my birthday anyway at the end of October with some lads from Uni anyway. I just thought that idea was a good one but i feel it will be one of those better in your head that in reality.

Nah, just when you think of something brilliant you get fucking busy. I'll be in Glasgow on the 26th now so not anytime before the festival and I've gotta be back in Newcastle for my uni's freshers week by the 14th for 'training' on how to get all the new freshers wankered haahaStuuka wrote:Did you ever decide on that?BryceFury wrote:Anyone InterRailed and made their way down to Outlook before? From the UK or nearby?
The last day (the 4th) is my 21st so the rents have agreed to pay my travel (I'm thinking InterRail ticket), so I'm thinking of going to Amsterdam for 2/3 days to meet some mates that will be there, then getting an InterRail ticket that starts when I wanna leave Amsterdam, getting night trains so I skip out on paying for accomodation and making my way down to Pula for the festival.
Reckon this is viable?
New plan is flight to Venice, night there, transfer to festival, then back to Venice til around the 10th and back to the UK.
Re: OUTLOOK 2011.
In a month's time we'll be chilling at outlook!
