In some ways, it doesn't bother me because it's not going to affect what I listen to. If she does release it as a single and it's a success, underground producers are not going to try and replicate it. They'll just keep experimenting with their sound.

But what does bother me about it is, like Skream said in his slightly drunk Ultra interview, they aren't going to the right people. If you want a dubstep influenced pop single at least get someone who knows what they are doing and will do something original.

What makes this song dubstep? If dubstep is just halfstep with a wobble bass then we may as well give up.... Who cares if some big pop producers wanted to use that vibe? Dubstep shouldn't be put into that box and hasn't got a monopoly on halfstep beats or wobble bass.... people are too worried about preserving the formula dubstep has become and have lost touch with the root concept of the expanse that dubstep could be.

:z:

plus the halfstep only comes at the end of the song, briefly, similar to many pop breakdowns

No one calls Britney Spears BritBrit. You're just an idiot.

But in all honesty, I love her. At least her "pop" is reasonably easy to listen to compared to half the other Rap-Pop-Afrojack mutations that have been all over the airwaves.

this exact conversation was had at least a year ago when rusko did a beat for britney, and before that with snoop and chase and status.

isn't dubstep anyway, dubstep isn't about a generic beat pattern. space n bass innit!

I just listened to it and to compare it to dubstep is dumb. They borrow one synth and an LFO and then for 15 seconds drop a slow vibe and theres dubstep. Im sorry but that is the fart of dubstep not the spawn thats gonna make it go mainstreem.
...wanna collab? Im down for new sounds, send me a PM please.
