Not sure what synth stabs you mean, I couldn't hear any at the beginning? Pulsing bass sounds like a low pitched 808 bass, with some resonance on it and a slight adjustment on the ADSR envelope to give it a longer attack so that it brings itself in slightly after the beat.
Alright thanks! Will play around with that, and meant the light stabs at 00:57 and continuing after the drop (kinda the beginning as it's a long song)

Surely we've all heard Dubsidia... I want to create the sound they use in most of their tracks!

Tips and techniques would be awesome!

They used a snare for a snare, a kick for a kick and some synths for their synth lines.

I hope that was vague enough for you.

Ok smartass. If you've listened to Dubsidia you would know what I'm talking about. They have a distinct sound in most of the bass lines and I want people to help me pick out how it is put together. Im talking about how the whole bass line is put together not just one little sound. Why bother posting if your not going to help.

Is anyone able to help me make these style wobbles? feels weird calling them wobbles because they dont seem very wobbly imo

The drum roll/fill rigt at the beginning of the track and again at 56sec


The synth that sounds like its opening and the synth cords that follow basically the sounds from about 27 sec to 49 sec.

Sounds like multiple wobbles being used to play off each other. Try programming multiple patches, so you've got one low slung guttural one, another higher end screeching wobble etc etc...then bounce out some of the audio and drop it directly into the playlist.

Sample it? Failing that, get a 'real' drum kit soundbank and watch a few YouTube videos of drummers playing fills to give you an idea about programming. If you've got a MIDI controller (particularly a drum pad), this would be easier to get a human feel to it.

Opening effect is achieved by having a very long attack on your ADSR envelope for the synth - though that could almost be a pitched down pad sound in fairness.

For the stabs, I'd suggest a sine/sawtooth combo wave to give it both the low end softness and the harsher top end. This video might give you an idea with regards to processing techniques, though you'll need to adjust slightly to get the sound you want;

I'm working on a patch right now for you. PS, the synth you are referring to is just a sample from the original (the original sounds much better). The only thing it really sounds like he adds to that is a bitcrusher. But anyhow, I'll try to have it up within a few hours.

Sounds like Saws with a bit of attack and little decay/sustain, playing a chord, with guitar amp simulation (probably guitar rig?) and delay.

Aaah, quality. I did mean the lead, cheers for that.


Anyone wanna tell me how I get such clean bass? Not a lot of distortion going on and it's really smooth.

So here's what I got. Obviously, it's not exact but I feel like it's pretty close. Also, obviously it doesn't sound nearly as cool by itself as it does with all the surrounding sounds. Anyways, here:

So I have no idea how to upload a printscreen shot onto this site, but if somebody wants to let me know how, I'd be more than happy to post all that I've done with this. But until then, I will tell you what i did. I used massive in FL Studio 9. I made a supersaw in massive, 3 saw waves, one an octave above 0, one at 0, and one an octave below 0, with one detuned 15 cents above 0, one at exactly 0, and the third detuned 15 cents below zero. In the voicing section, I used polyphone (cuz I'm playing chords) and 6 voices and turned up the cutoff on the unisono, to further detune it. I also turned on the modulation oscillator (set to octave 0) and turned on the phase modulation for oscillator 2 (which is the osc I set at octave 0). I also have a low pass filter on it (I used massives built in lowpass 2). as far as massive effects goes, I used the dimension expander, and a bit of white noise. Ok, now for the modulation within massive. I used the low pass filter and set the resonance up just a bit to about 8:30. I used an envolope with a slow attack to control the cutoff frequency. I used this same envelope to modulate the amount of phase modulation (use this sparingly, otherwise you will wind up with a rediculously obnoxious sound). I also used this envelope to modulate the amount of white noise that's heard (once again, don't overdue it). I assigned a macro control to both the white noise volume and the filter cutoff. I used this for the whole patch, so as it progresses, the envelope has less and less of an effect. I also assigned a macro control to the dry/wet and size in the dimension expander, although don't overdue this either, otherwise you'll get too much decay and it sounds kind of funny. I also used pretty heavy vibrato, and raised the vibrato for each note (similar to assigning each note to an envelope, only I did the modulation myself, so that each note could have a different amount of vibrato).
Ok. That's done, now onto the FL studio portion. I basically used camel space's exciter and reverb and saturation, and modulated each note so that as each note holds longer, the amount of exciter saturation and reverb all increase. I then EQ'd it to taste. Next I added another camel space and did the same thing as before, but this time, I didn't do it for each note, I did it gradually over the entire patch. Then I added a bit of compression and tube distiortion via camel phat. That is basically it. Hope this helps.

Big ups the re make sound is spot on and ill read this shortly and try it i use fl9 and massive my self so this shouldnt be that difficult. if you up any screen shots or the massive patch that would be helpfull as well.
Edit: well i did this and the sound is great but i don't have to the camel phat plugins for the modulation which im assuming is very important to getting the movement of the sound. However thanks for the help though and the sound i do have is usable as is with other plugins not the opening effect but still a nice sound.

As well thanks wub for the feedback ill check the stab tutorial the end result of the tutorial is very similar to a sound im useing in a tune im working on atm. however im sure i can use the tutorial to get the basics and just adjust settings to get a sound i like. As well for the drum fill im thinking they are toms? my brother is a drummer and he thinks the same but i was wondering what you were thinking?
