Re: So, James Blake's...
I'm checking in to replace my last post in this thread. Since then, i've actually looked at some other stuff from him, and really gone nuts over the past few months, opening my ears to this new wave of hipster dubstep hahaha
He makes really good stuff imo. He's an expert at creating these dark and eerie atmospheres and combining that with deep and soulful stuff!
Anyone checked his latest release on Hemlock Recordings? "Pan/Order"
Those are killers!

This guy is lucky. He's in a position now where can just under produce everything and people will fawn over how 'raw' and avante-garde it is.

Who's to say what's under-produced if what's done is intentional?therapist wrote:This guy is lucky. He's in a position now where can just under produce everything and people will fawn over how 'raw' and avante-garde it is.
Re: So, James Blake's...
Meh - if it makes me hipster for absolutely adoring his album and feeling everything hes done then i'm going to buy 800 pounds worth of Urban Outfitters (probably be like 1 tshirt) and drink redstripe on bricklane.
His album is on par with Bon Iver's first and the Gayngs stuff he did..
For those not in the know.....
This is my opening track for those PROPER deep 5am sets!
George Micheal without the gayness <3
I think everyone should start their sets with it, it goes in sooooooooooooooooooooooooo hard.

I don't think it makes you a hipster for liking it. I think that guys like James Blake, Jamie xx and mount kimbie (to name a few) are hipsters.
And also, why do people here object to hipsters so much?

^ Do you ever go around Shoreditch on a evening? The posh accents, the same dress senses, androgyny is rife...
Its just not a lot of people's scene...
I'm sure a lot of people think the 'ole dubstep scene is waste, with its hoodies, skate trainers and jeans.

Lol. George Michael minus the gay leaves what exactly? That tune has gay in the title, and """""goes in sooooo hard"""", I really question the sexuality of that tune.legend4ry wrote:Meh - if it makes me hipster for absolutely adoring his album and feeling everything hes done then i'm going to buy 800 pounds worth of Urban Outfitters (probably be like 1 tshirt) and drink redstripe on bricklane.

1) you can't readlegend4ry wrote:Well, your screen name is the rapist.
2) that would have no bearing on what a gay song that was

Re: So, James Blake's...
nice post...shout out to any1 whos getting into puttin lyrics to their work...im listening to alot of nirvana these days trying to find some inspiration for vocals still hav nt busted the mic out but it ll come. I saw example on the telly recently ive never had time for his music but now that hes started to put his own words to it my respect for him has gone up ten fold...i wont be buying his album any time soon but he seems like less of a phony to me now. If any1 has any tips for penning lyrics id love to hear them. I could nt agree with you more that this is the direction computer music needs...a voice/soul!!!

Everything in the drums and percussion is done with his voice
And how will you inquire into a thing when you are wholly ignorant of what it is? Even if you happen to bump right into it, how will you know it is the thing you didn't know?

Are you seriously saying that liking a certain type of music or a certain band makes you a hipster?
Do you even know what "Hipster" means?
