Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
edit: my apologies for overlooking this - early mornings/late nights often make me overlook things, but here goes:
@amphibian - I like that whompage-test. Definitely something I'd expect to hear on Youngsta's Rinse show. Seriously deep. It needs a little something more, maybe a dark vocal sample or something somewhere, might add to the atmosphere you've built there.
@BudSpencertron - I'm a BIG fan of that vocal sample you've got in there. A possible synth melody might add to the entire thing? Overall though I like where you're going with it.
@RandoRando - i'm really not a big fan of brostep stuff but i gave this a listen anyway. the drums are really nice, very well done i reckon. like the "let the bass kick" sample as well. the bass switches up just a liiiiittle too often for me though (that being said, it is "brostep" so what was i expecting, really?). as i said, not a big fan of brostep but this is executed nicely.
this is the first thing i've really had the balls to show anyone other than friends...be gentle >_<

@Kes-Es: Great vibey tune, man. Loving the sounds Definitely has a Burial/ Prefuse 73-esque vibe. Loved the bits that came in at 1:40, really gave the tune some nice movement.
@LucasKane- Subs sound great. Love the stab too. Hats should be a bit louder imo. A female vocal sample would sound good over that.
@x902- Great intro. Wasn't feeling the drop too much, just sounds out of place to me.
Here's something I've been working on as of late- feedback MUCH appreciated.

thanks for feedback
@amphibian
@amphibian
yeah my brother said the same but its hard to tell for me with the bass cause i added some reverb and stuff and sounded realy nice on my headphones but maybe soundcloud compressed that stuff or other systems respond different on the sound so either i take it away totally or add more hi end and watch the muddy areas around 300 more, hard to say ;but thanks anyways@budspencertron - nice, love it. My kind of step. Your brother is now on followIf anything my only real qualm is that bass that comes in at 56 secs. It's also rather muddy.

@keev
nice one, love the dark vibe. but there seems to be something missing... have you sent the bass to buss channels and effected the diffrent busses?? if not i think thata might bring another element of movement to your bass
also the drums are sounding a little weak.. eg the snare isnt "in yo face" as a lot of dubstep is.. but mayb thats wat you were going for??
i dunno.. id buss all the instruments further if you aint already, and layer up some of them snares..
bu good over all.. all the elements of the mix work really well together,, just needs polishing up
--
@ the other drug
not my style of dub, but i cant say ive heard a style like this before... really got loads of energy and i like that.. and its unique and not generic.. so big up for that.
nice mixdown 2 imo..

@ nruen
vibesy percussion! deep bass.. nicee.. im diggin this.. love the synth that comes in after 1 min.. eurmm cons: only thingi think of is even though the percussion sounds great i think it needs a changeup here n there, just to keep it intresting. also all the the risers and transitinal noises/ fx are quite long.. perhaps add a few short ones here n there?? i dunno im really nit picking here thou.. its a great tune.
as for my track..
Soundcloud
something a bit diffrent.. more dancy i think.. me and a mate formed a duo for producing as we both started arouund the same time and have been djs for years.. this is gonna be one of the tracks on our coming up lp.. always wanted to make an LP ya no?
looking for anything that stands out as not good.. having listend to this tune loads while making it im kinda stumped for anything to add to it,, fresh ears would be good i think..

@amphibian - Lovely clean mixdown, deep stuff, reminds me of Kryptic Minds stuff
@x902 - I'd get your perc pulled up, there's some compression necessary on that lead bass sound, it's stomping on everything (you can hear levels ducking all over the place).
@Sifty - props on doing something different. More techno than dubstep for me, but I like it.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@keev - I really like, particularly the on-beat hats, nice "different" sub too and little FX. The only input, first little drop @1:50, introduce something different, or take something out (like the hats) to give it some variation.
@BudSpencertron - Sounds fine to me on my headphones, loving the vibes big time....I guess you were listening to a lot of Burial at the time
Loving the percussion. My only critique would be "no sub" the majority of the time.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@deafblindmusic haha thanks ,but he was refering to different tune i think.
@kilo beats totally dig this one, sub sounds heavy on my headphones got much movement in the synths so it keeps being interesting but i personaly would shorten the two long parts little bit more but really nice one overall
@keev got a wierd but cool vibe to it cant explain it haha sub wobbles nicely no overpowering, melody is nice could only experiment with reverbs and delays on the elements and look if it adds somethink to the flow .
@amphibian definitly comparable to the sounds of madd u, kryptic etc only tiny little thing i dont feel is the snare its eqed nice but i expected a shorter punchier one but its personaly feel i think
sorry for posting so many tunes but critic keeps me working on stuff
thats a more chilled tune i started

finished the last one, might have a listen if you want

@ Budspencerton: In that chilled out first one, really cool percussive elements you've got going. Maybe crank up that sub bass just a little bit. Awesome vibes though, really cool to listen to.
@ Kilo Beats: Pretty cool sounds you've got going on. Unique chord progression, which I like. Do you have a plain sine sub bass layer underneath the wobs? I think they could rumble a bit more.
@Keev: Not a bad first post at all man! Throw some reverb on those hats, especially in the beginning. They sound kind of dry. I get that you're going for the deep ambient vibes and stuff, but I would maybe work on little more structuring.
Here's mine, sort of a progressive, glitch hop, chillout type song that started out as a hip hop beat. Kind of wierd, but I had fun making it. Tell me what you think! Thanks

@NorCoDubstep I really enjoyed that. Its got some real nice vibes for hiphop and I had a great time listening. I think the bass sound that first starts at 1.10 should be turned down and have more low end to it.

I was talking about "I Must Go On" in your sig....or I am going blind/stupid (quite possible)

@deafblindmusic no i dont think so haha but i was thinking you where refering to amphibian who was posting on my tune on the last page (Sky) maybe i got confused

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Thanks for all the feedback guys, I'm gonna mess around with some stuff, maybe rearrange a few things and see how it works out.
@NorCoDubstep: This is sick! Definitely not something I'm used to hearing very often but I can definitely appreciate it - real summer vibes going on. The only thing that really bothered me was when the sort of overdriven bass kicks in - to me it feels like it should be a liiiiittle less driven, just so it fits in a bit nicer with the rest of the song. Thanks for the suggestion about my hats by the way, I felt there was something more I could do to them but I didn't think of trying something as simple as a little reverb, I'll give it a go
Also, did you record those little guitar bits or is that a synth of some sort? Really interested in that.

@ kilo beats - tight track if anything i would sugguest a bit more variation but honestly its a very nice track as is.
@Budspencertron the track you posted sky-1 really well done track only suggestion would be to take out the vocal and see how its sounds personally i think i would like it more but maybe i wouldnt who knows.
@ NorCoDubstep really like the vibes but it kind of lost me with the midrange around 1:10. I mean its interesting but i feel its lost the awesome vibe you had going but you know what stuff like that keep music interesting. Cool idea (=
Little clip im looking for feedback on i feel the sound is good but can be made better. Any suggestions detailed or not would be greatly appreciated.

definitely some flux pavilion inspiration in there lol. for the main bass sound, that one really doesnt sound good to me, try layering a high pitched screech with a mid bass and a big sub bass and also work on the notes, those notes don't fit together.louieb wrote:@ kilo beats - tight track if anything i would sugguest a bit more variation but honestly its a very nice track as is.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
well i did something similar to this and it sound good but its a high pitched screech with a pure sine sub and a slightly bit crushed mid bass but the only problem is it sounds to much like the bass from cracks by flux pavillion and that makes it cheesy and unoriginal to me )=.jrisreal wrote:definitely some flux pavilion inspiration in there lol. for the main bass sound, that one really doesnt sound good to me, try layering a high pitched screech with a mid bass and a big sub bass and also work on the notes, those notes don't fit together.louieb wrote:@ kilo beats - tight track if anything i would sugguest a bit more variation but honestly its a very nice track as is.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
well this sound could work I guess, but change the notes because the notes don't fit with eachother.
Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
well the notes are mainly D5 and A4 on the higher sound but theirs a point where it goes to D#5 with another sound playing the chords basically i don't know the chord to use to match the d#5 i just fixed the rest of the chords but im not sure how to match the chord for the higher sound when its playing the note D#5.jrisreal wrote:well this sound could work I guess, but change the notes because the notes don't fit with eachother.
