last weekend at detonate in notts KM were in stealth room 2 and nero was in the rescue rooms main room, you couldn't even get into the rescue rooms half an hour before nero was on and KM room was half empty (or half full depending on how you look at these things). most of the people in the KM room were DJ's, producers and other assorted nerdy white boys, rude boys and a few gal dem. most 20+. nero was a massive cross section, old ravers, chavs, rude boys, nuff posh uni girls and boys and a few more thrown in for good measure. my point being that... actually, not sure i have a point. just annoyed me that KM were going off, playing loads of dubs, bringing something a bit different and all that and nero's just churning out the same old shit remixes and hype tunes. and FUCKING LOADS OF PEOPLE were eating it up. :u:

sometimes i think i'm in the wrong game...
Yea ,agree with you 100% It's sad to see that shit music is what gets everyone's attention. Pisses me off even more when people say that Skrillex has "talent"[/quote]

not even getting into a skrillex rant, i've just avoided that shit since it started.

these people going bat-shit to nero and that ilk are the same people that 2 years ago were all obsessed with new-rave and a year before that were all tortured emo scenesters. in another year or so they'll have moved onto whatever new fad zane lowe has deemed cool and we'll have our nights back!

Music is simply art and age is just a number.

Yes I do.
I started listening to dubstep through them bassy Rusko Tracks, do remember it was Cockney Thug that really got me interested. Then I started moving towards the real bro stuff like Chrispy and Flux Pavilion, tafter that I started listening to the more chilled out music, dungeon and also older releases of dubstep.
I also started producing as a bro. Now I don't do that much anymore, I find it more interesting to capture a more chilled vibe while going low in with my basslines.
Oh, I'm 16.

Started out listening to brostep but soon got bored, there's few midrange tunes that interest me now, I then moved on to dungeon/dark dubstep and more meditative bass music. I'm 17

I'm 16 and started to listen to Dubstep last year.
It was the Skreamizm's that bought me into the genre and i'm currently going deeper into it by searching out for Burial, Mala..etc

I'm not really much of a brofan, but my facebook is full of 16-25 Year olds UKF & Circus fanboys/girls that sit there and listen to Flux, Doctor P and Skrillex on there phones and laptop speakers. :u:

i do love abit of tearout though ;-)
Much Love. :Q:

Why wouldn't they? It's funny, most people start listening to underground music in their teens, but somehow assume that the generation after them doesn't.

Folk have to remember that the main reason all the teenage lot are into all the 'tearout brostep' shit is because they grew up on youtube.

For example
Distance - Nomad : 7,715 views
Skrillex - any tune : 439,548,435 views

Its a sad way to look at it, but for most of them its all they know. Especially for the American kids who don't have the nights that we do here.

I'm 18 and I've been listening to dubstep for about a year. Got into it after listening to Request Line. After listening to a few DMZ releases, I was hooked. Eventually, I came across the stuff that is labelled 'brostep' and I like that, too, but I can't compare it to something like Thief In Da Night. I can listen to all the 'underground' stuff but recently some 'brostep' is getting on my nerves due to the fact that I feel like I'm listening to the same thing in every tune.

I usually only buy the 'real' dubstep stuff that is mostly released on wax as well because I was brought up listening to vinyl and being brought along to record fairs, so for me, vinyl is the better way to listen to music. That and the fact that I hate downloads which is the medium that most of the popular stuff is released.

Valid point but you also have to take into account that a lot of people are sheep. I played Anthemic to a friend when Magnetic Man's album came out and he thought it was shite. Once dubstep really started taking off, he loved it. He wasn't the only one who all of a sudden started hopping on the popular stuff. Pretty much everyone in my year in school was going around saying "Oh, do you know what dubstep is?". I ranted so many times trying to correct people about how it started.

Oh yeah, im well aware people are sheep. 22 million views for Scary Monsters and Nice Shites... If that song had been released in 2005 without any of the hype brostep has now, everyone would have hated it. Theres nothing you could do though man, if anything brostep makes me appreciate the excellence of the music i listen to even more. Just leave em to it.
