nothing wrong with drum rack. i like it sometimes. the default settings on the simplers can get in the way though. i like impulse and audio tracks.

the ultimate way of working though is the impulse racks inside the drum racks and then bounce out those to individual audio tracks.

You can change the settings in any of the Ableton devices and then right click on the top title bar part of the device and choose "save as default preset". Ableton will then load the device with whatever settings you choose.

hmm i prefer to use the simpler if its a synth sound, drum racks are good for beats, hence the name, but really its just tidier, not much else to benefit from with it..
