Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
new, made a few posts in production, saw this one.
Im Andy, from Australia. new to dubstep, made a little bit of electronic stuff in the past but only for myself. a few House songs, used to make hip hop beats years ago. a few of my friends and I made a few demos, we were called "4564' which is our postcode. I used to make alot of glitchy/melodic songs, different kinda electro versions of acoustic songs. all for demos and friends. I think theres a myspace i made ages ago, myspace.com/noahexperiment .
I have been playing Hardcore(real hardcore, punk-hardcore) for about 12 years, played in a few bands that were mildly receptive, toured australia alot. went to NZ once, played in a bunch of metal bands. Mainly guitar, but I always make demos of different styles, one ended up turning into a 'cult' band, Abraxis. myspace.com/abraxishc I have since been able to consider myself friends with a few of my favourite bands, bands i loved growing up on, have a few shows this year. and i play guitar in a nu-wave hardcore band, Wish for wings, really really dull an nu metalish, but when im playing interstate we are just big enough to impress girls at clubs. it sounds like im bigging myself up but im not, just a gauge on where im coming from to here.
I must say, the coolguy elitism isnt as bad here than other genres. Stoked on dub, i like riffs.
I think the reason why dubstep is getting noticed in heavier scenes is the riffs, the BPM and energy is quite similar to moshy breaks in most hardcore/metal stuff. if i listen to some breaks in Terror or Ringworm, i get similar vibes in some Borgore riffs. loving it.
if you care.. listen to some stuff
www.myspace.com/abraxishc
www.myspace.com/wishforwingsband I think, my net is going real slow
theres facebooks aswell, cheers guys

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Hello there.
My name is Andrew. I'm 26, I am from the United States, and I live in Las Vegas.
I am more of a Producer than a musician I would say.
Played guitar and used to always want to be in a band.
I even started my own band back a few years ago.
Everything went to shit and I realized that Rock music wasn't for me anymore.
Stopped making music but jammed around every once in a while.
It appeared I was done with music. I was selling stuff off and dating and having a normal life.
Then I heard my first Wobble Bassline.
Then I started listening to UKDubstep on youtube.
I fell in love with it. Never heard it before. I mean, I was into electronica and techno back in the late 90's/early 00's. Oakenfold, Darude, Daft Punk, etc.
But this was completely different.
I got excited about music again and started learning the basics in synth and LFO's as well as other DAW tricks and operations.
The day I decided to be serious, was the day I got to go to Day 3 of EDC in Vegas last month. It blew me away!!
I have been making beats and learning the techniques I need to create Dubstep, I've even messed around with some Glitch-Hop and Electro stuff.
I'm still new to this genre and the beatmaking process. I'm learning new stuff everyday, and my music is constantly evolving.
I'm setting up a SoundCloud account and I'm going to start posting my clips for feedback. I like criticism, I want to get better, I want to be an Artist.
I'm also learning Traktor Pro 2 and I'm doing quite well.
I want to make some friends in this Industry as well. I've never reached out to the Internet for that kind of thing, but the musicians in this town are hard to work with and even to talk to. If anyone here from Vegas thinks otherwise, please change my mind and say Hi.
This is definitely the new form of music, and I am ready to jump on to this wave.
I look forward to contributing to this board and develop as an Artist and as a Human.
Peace!

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
Hi everyone. I heard about this site almost a year ago while watching a Datsik interview on Youtube. I had been into Dubstep for a while and had an interest in making it, but had no computer/software with which to do so. I got my computer going 2 months ago. Made an account on here and soundcloud almost 2 weeks ago and have made two beats so far. I just started to use FL Studio9. I nerded out on it for a day and I think I'm starting to get the hang of it. I have absolutely no knowledge of mastering or engineering so tips and constructive criticism would be awesome. Here are the two dubstepish beats i've made so far.
1st beat

2nd beat (just finished it!)

Umm, well I've just signed up but I'm sort of not really new because I've been lurking for quite a while
but anyway, I'm here to introduce myself so here goes, my name's Ian, I'm from London and I've been messing around with electronic music since the days of "Altern8", the Amiga 500 & Music-X, jesus I'm getting on a bit haha, I've gone through fazes of making drum&bass, techno, house, pretty much every electro style and I've done the sound tracks for a couple of indie games on Xbox360 aswell but for the last couple of months I've been deep into the dubstep...anyway I'm not really sure what else to say, other than HELLO PEOPLEZ!!

Hey, fairly new to Dubstep, first group i heard it from is/was the Glitch Mob.
About two months ago I found Bassnectar and then went looking for more dubstep, I saw this a while ago and figured I'd be intrested in talking with people who are a fan of dubstep.
So yeah, Hi all.

Re: newcomers -> introduce yourself here
easy, been into dubstep and reading the forum for years now ever since hearing thief in the night but never really had anything worth while to say, finally signed up a few months ago and today decided to actually post a mix i recorded and finally try and get myself heard a bit. been djing for quite a while now and played a fair few smaller scale shows as well as a couple of fabric student type nights, been trying my hand at production for a fair bit too. never really put anything up production wise coz i'm far to self critical on my own work and dont wanna put up anything i wouldnt personally listen to.
anyway heres a link to the soundcloud and my facebook http://www.soundcloud.com/fisher-dubstep http://www.facebook.com/craig.whittingham

Hello!
I play guitar, and am setting up a live dubstep band - live drummer, all the frills.
Anyone think thats a good idea?
Also anyone have any good links to UK-based dubstep nights?
Stay fresh
