With Cher Lloyd at #1...What happens next?

Post by -Glitch » Sun Aug 07, 2011 7:10 pm

With her being at #1, can people get anymore brain dead?
I mean seriously, it gets worse and worse and i can't bare to think what the next "fad" or the next "thing" is for the next gen, and the gen AFTER THAT.

Whats your opinion of what the music will be like in the next 10 years?
Much Love. :Q:

I think the mainstream will get even more shit, full of self involved money grabbers out for fame and money. The underground will carry on like it always has, with lots of fresh new ideas and music to keep people like us happy!

This.

The mainstream only accounts for a small percentage of all music produced. Just a case of shifting past it and finding what you like :)

Exactly, people get into the top 40 for all the fking wrong reasons, things like X Factor don't exactly help
Not like the underground where you get passion and personality put into each and every track Well most anyway..

We need shit like what happened in 09 when Rage Against The Machine became #1 over X Factor! 8)

just goes to show with the right media hype/image/backstory the music industry can cram pretty much any old shite into people's mouths. I'm sure one day most of the people who bought the single will regret it.

What's the difference between between everyone buying a Rage sinle because it was a "cool" idea, and the same thing happening with x factor. Ratm aren't exactly "underground," they a massive commerical rock band backed by a major label.

Thought there was something quite ironically funny about that particular song being promoted like that, "FUCK YOU I WON'T DO WHAT YOU TELL ME!," was just embarassing if anything.

Pop music will always be mostly shit, no ones making you listen to it. Some people don't care about music that much and don't want to invest the time into it that enthusiasts would. Maybe they have other interests, maybe they would mock you for not being as knowledgable about their passion.

What happened though? Has the internet made 'underground' music much bigger leaving the shit to float to the top?

This was a number 1

In Soviet Russia, the bass feels you.

Pop music used to be ALOT better - when it supported real artists and people
and didn't just promote their own - manufactured garbage...

that's due to the conglomeration and lack of competitiveness in the industry as it is today.

in the past, there were hundreds of labels putting out releases and fighting with each other.

today, there are 4, and they own everything. they tell the public what to like, and the public listens.

but even the cheesiest of soft listening in the 80's was more than just palatable..
