Do I really want to know?

This....

This was produced with the blandest - most cliche sound kit from the 80's..and still manages to rock...

Having been born in the eighties the memories i have are of purely 90's music basically but it is true when people say: 'they dont make it like they used to'. That phrase pretty much sums up all chart music since the millenium in my opinion.

P.s. cher lloyd would have been dropped off that cliff at birth in 300.

This is probably the closest thing from the underground to make it in the states...
and I don't even think it made top 40 - it just got lots of radio play for novelty sake..

I don't think you could get a much worse #1 than that, unless Dub On The Track or those MK1 twats somehow manage it. I'd even rather see Nero do it.

What happens is she gets her 6th? thread on DSF and everyone pats themselves on the back pointing out how shit she is.

This idea that this is a particularly shit time for mainstream / pop music is wrong. While there may have been decent stuff charting at all times check out the Reynolds Girls or Sonia or Kylie in the 80's in order to grasp just how terrible stuff has always gotten a modicum of chart success with a known producer and a reasonable bit of marketing.

I don't think pop music was ever better or worse. We just forget about the worst bits from the past mainly, and fondly remember the better bits. :?

I ignore it most of the time now though.

[edit] ^ Beat me to it a bit.

Shanks and bigfoot tune has a heavy bassline, got love for that track! i could think a load of RnB remixes that are a lot worse.

What actually is the Top 40 music buying demographic? It's gotta be predominately female judging by how the top 10, with maybe the Louder track being fueled by pubescent lads jumping on the Dubstep fad. Has piracy demolished sales as much as record sales have people believe or are numbers similar to what they were a decade ago?

Pop music was decent enough when I was growing up, in the heat of the Garage wave + the likes of the The Chronic and the Slim Shady LP.

hey la, hey la my boyfriends back...

80's did have a whole lotta hair metal bands...I just ignored them as mutant weirdness

except for Def Leppard...Photograph is a sick tune..ahah

ok Journey..

and these guys...not my scene..but always loved their music...
that's like - sophisticated metal..metal meets 70's synth jazz/rock outfit..
Just sayin' YES - was considered popular music...
