@louieb Obvious Gold Dust Flux Pav attempt here first, no shame in that... few notes off around 0:09, other than that its the sound. What you'r looking for is a hard sync'd set of squares with a waveshaper on them. First you'll need a synth that can hardsync. Massive is probably the best bet as that what Flux used. In massive you can just pick Hard sync from the menu, then scream filter it with the resonance near full and the filter nearly open (cutoff up high), then tube FX it, add Sine shaper to the insert and adjust to taste, then do a lot of tweaking.

The real reason I gave you all those instructions is to make you realise that even if you have the main sound in an epic tune, you still don't have the landscape built around it to make that sound shine. That synth you have in your version (the second bit) is good but there is still no foundation around it. You need more layers. Oh and if you do get that sound to a similar thing Flux has it will totally clash with your synth frequencies lol

Now the real question...

WHERE'S MY MONEY! I mean feedback

@ gen im honestly not going for the flux sound i can make something very similar to the sounds he used in cracks obviously not spot on but similar im actually more aiming at between a mix of his sound and something like joker and guido. I understand the stab is very similar to the one in goldust but im not tryign to recreate that track actually thinking about takeing out the stab for chords or just a snare i will try the tips you gave me though.

Edit-tried the sound very similar to the sound im talking about that i made that sounds like the synth in cracks. Im not against this sound but its obviously flux pavillions signature. Im starting to feel that i need to change that stab to i guess idk i really like how it sounds but maybe some super saw or chords or something will sound better.

Also @gen i just checked your track it wouldnt play for me earlier similar to the style im aiming for anyway i like but i think the vocals could be turned up a bit and personally i don't like the screechy noise that much but i don't think its a problem. Nice work.

yah actually tried a few sounds over that stab and they fit the second lead pretty well im going to try to work something out later most of them have kind of sqaure type sounds to them but their were two that didn't going to keep messing with those patches later and see what happens.

Good to know, it just sounds like the whole notation from the first bit is pretty much the same a fluxes apart from 3 or three notes lol

I wrote the notes for the second lead in chords layered with another sound playing chords and the stab was played in chords as well but im switching the stab to a different sound thats more fitting for the sound now might move the notes around on the lead to but i think it sounds good as it is personally.

Noisestorm- nice man, all the midrange cack is spot on, needs more of an intro though mate, maybe get an antro from that vocal and piano you used, would make a nice contrast. overall nice work!

resik21- nice intro man, like that little drum rhythm. one tip for you, more sub bass! this is bassmusic my friend, and it needs bass. itll give your lead more weight and clout. mixdown sounds fine. in terms of melody does feel a bit like a few different rhythms thrown together, no sense of progression or that the melodies are related.

BudSpencertron- nice vibes on the tune as a whole, burial-esque indeed. mixdown sounds fine, spot on rhythmically, some really nice sounds used too. haunting as fuck, i like it.

heres my effort, tis a reup of the same wip as last time but i only got one piece of feedback so its making a return.

cheeky, that track is all around great. BANGER
my friend was at my house today and asked me to show him how to make a wobble, I made the wobble really quick, drum beat, pads, etc. He asked if I could make it a dnb track, I've never tried or looked up any tut's on dnb but I gave it my best shot and I think it's going good so far. Didn't make an intro yet because I thought I was just going to show him how to make a wobble then it became a project aha

Cheeky Nice intro! The bass sound neat, I would change the snare sample though, the one you use sound a bit cheap if you know what I mean? Maybe add a clap aswell, I think that would give the snare whole lot more power. Overall nice work! Keep it up
resik21 The mix sound very messy, too many sounds at once. I dont really know what to say about the wobble, well its an ordinary wobble. My best tip would be to listen to alot of dnb tunes and try to explore the techniques they use.

I'm working on a bootleg of Loefah - Disko Rekah for a gig I'm having, if people like it I might release as a free download aswell

@Cheeky - Interesting sounds, sounds dope :W: The snare could use a longer white noise tail/layer. The bass that come in at ~2.45 needs more punch/presence if you know what I mean.

@Resik21 - Beginning sounds tight, but the gated noise at 0.20 seems way too fast, maybe a slower LFO? The drums could use more punch too, try sidechaining them to the bass/synth. Also a mix-up on the melody would sound more interesting. Keep up the work man

@Ninthy - IMO I don't like the metally snare, but it sounds good with the rest of the track. Huge bass! Maybe to much distortion on the low-end but it up to taste. Definitely has potential.

Here's the WiP I actually want feedback on... It's not quite dubstep but close enough. Vv

vvThis one isn't really a WiP but I've been struggling with the mix for awhile now and could use some tips.

Cheeky: Thanks! Yes, I'll totally make an intro section, I just wanted to export the drop here, I'll finish it up soon! As for your track, I'm loving it! It's sounding good all around, but I would try and get more tail on the snare as said above, I think it would get it sounding even better :)

{ I hope my mistakes will be forgotten because i'm french }

@cheecky : Your sounds are fat and i like the atmosphere but i think you should add a layer of long notes to fill the sound especially before 1:08 ! at 1:3! i was expecting something différent or faster !. Then at 1:50 the idea is good but the sound is really quiet you should put it up. I like the top that come after !

@ninthy4 : The intro is a bit long but the play with subs is good so it's interesting, the drop is really heavy but repeated a bit too many times ( 8 times ) while 4 then 4 with some variations would have been better !

@Alexvont12 : I think the melody coming at 0:30 is good but it sounds not enough "full", you should add some same synth with slight difference, or a bit of reverb !

The track for which i want your feedback is a remix i have made on Reason 5 exclusively of a Deathcore band called Emmure ( there's a sample of the original tune in the beginning ). I tried to play a loot with the samples while making a nice drop (1:00). :D

Thanks for the feedback people,
@ninthy4 - Yes mate that would go off in the club, only thing is it sounds like the bass drops in volume at a couple points 1.25, 1.31 -
would definitely be interested in a download tho once its done... oh yea and someone commented on the snare.. sounds sick imo, just like the original!

@Cheeky - Like this a lot, it's very funtcase-y. If the main synth had a bit more beef to it, it would be better, imo. Hi hat(the ride one) could be turned up a notch too, it's getting drowned out. Snare could use a bit of layering to give it some punch.

@Resik - Sounds a bit too busy, and there's clashing tones in there. The wobble actually sounds gated, it's too fast/too sharp.

@Ninthy - Not gonna lie, was not enjoying this at all, then when 0:58 hit I loved it. Bass sounds are sick. Especially that (reese?) one at 1:19. Especially at the drop, sounds like there some interesting automation going on. Really like the main bass synth.

@alex - The clap sample isn't great. I actually had to focus on it to hear it. The synths could use a bit of unison to spread them out a bit and give you more of a warmth to the track. Percussion line is interesting.

@Cook - Not really feeling the pads at the drop mate. Some interesting influences here. Some of the synths sound very crunk then there's DnB darkness and industrial. I really liked the build up with the single wub per bar.

Started this last night, put just over an hour into it so it's fairly basic and there's no EQing or anything yet, it's pretty minimal. Not dubstep, but I'm sure people here will also like electro/complextro. Would appreciate some feedback on it :)

You need to give at least 3 other people feedback before you post your own track.

@cheeky - I could do with a little more sizzle on the snare (even though it's suuuuper clean sounding). I'd take some of the reverb out too. The bass sound needs some variation in filter or something.
@classick - The "power stab" noise sits too far back in the mix to make its impact felt, I'd pull it forward to make it a more integrated part of your lead sounds. Maybe some key changes needed for interest?
@ninthy4 - Like the bootleg, plenty of space and little touches here and there. like the stuff in your sig. Nice Reeses (what you using? I'm doing a survey *grin*)
@alexvont12 - The melody and everything jumps around a lot for me, trying to find the "hook". Your perc is fine, it's definitely not dubstep, more techno.

@I Am Cook - First off, your English is excellent, certainly better than my French ;). Digging the remix from a sound perspective, that pitching/bending lead sound grates a little after a while. The other powernoise stuff is interesting. I'd look mainly at that lead sound.

@Sub South - Filth on the drops, liking the percussion, mix could use some clarity, snare getting lost (aren't they always the pain in the arse? *grin*). Definitely high on the energy side of things. Could see this working well in a club. Fixing the mix would work wonders, re-limit it particularly, look at the snare.

@ Cheeky- love the sounds and the atmosphere of the intro and that wobble is clean and simple but killer. The changes to the wobble throughout the song are spot on.

@ I Am Cook- good remix to me overall, I love that wobble synth that comes in at the drop. Has alot going on but not too much, to me feels like somethings missing but could be personal taste.

Heres my first WIP as I am a brand new producer would appreciate any feedback you guys can give me on the track.

@Cheeky: Digging the intro... H O L Y S H I T. This is fucking sick. I just had to turn up the volume. Sicker at the second sequencing too. This track is absolutely insane. Reminds me of skream, but this is definitely your own monster. I really can't think of anything this track needs because you just added that second bass which was the only thing I could think of. *Massive round of applause*

@Ninthy: Clipping is the first thing I noticed. Im really digging the actual song though. Love this original, and this is amazing as well. My recommendation is finding a way to do something a little different with the part sampled from the original you follow your own bass sound with a little more to add variation, maybe switch it with another bass ever so often. Other than that, great work! :)

@Alexvont: Intro is lengthy, but hey thats house. I like this, pretty groovy. The melodic sound is fairly simplistic though and the bass is pretty hard to hear through everything else. A fair bit of mixing could help this significantly. Also try to add more variation and less of everything at once, it gets a bit repetitive after a while. Keep up the good work!

@Wizeguy: Nice atmosphere. Love that bass. I'd love if you could teach me how to make that style :6: This is smooth, polished and fantastic. It is fairly repetitive though, maybe some different sequencing after a certain point? Possibly add another more aggressive layer to the sound and reintroduce it later like Exothermic Reaction by Skream? Not that distorted or anything, but the idea there is what im getting at. Great work so far!

@ Sub South: Nice intro, pretty good drums. I think I might like the drop, if I could actually hear what was going on it. Tough love here, but that shit is a mess. I really can't hear any of the basses clearly, which is a shame because it seems like a pretty awesome track. Mix the shit out of that thing and then we'll see what it actually sounds like. Great sequencing and production though, minus the mixing. I really would love to hear a finished version of this.

I've had this sitting around for a while because it was mainly loops I didn't know how to sequence properly, but I've finally gotten around to using arrangement view for actually aranging lol. So I put this together finally. It's deep and has more focus on the melodics than is usual for dubstep I guess. What do you guys think?
