Alright lads? I have been scouring these forums for over a month now trying to find something to point me in the correct direction of making a fat, crunchy, harmonically rich, and almost reese like bass used in KOAN sound-Blue Stripes. I have been very close to creating this sound, but I am not satisfied. In advance, thank you for any help, feedback, and tips that I will receive.

Post by Darkow »

So I have been listening to Ajapai lately and fucking hell, how the fuck do you create such a HUGE wobble bass? It comes in at 00:42

Ajapai - Destroyed

And please any suggestions on the bass that comes in at 00:53 - for http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcfupR_B-M4

I'm over trying to make those talking growling bass sounds skrillex makes LOL! even though it was a great way to learn alot!

Any help will be highly appreciated....

Anyone know what sort of arpeggio used in this? Not the sound but the actual notes/chords

@captainplanet
i made it with NI massive
osc1:deep throat, wt position at 4 o'clock, pitch -12.00
osc2: melofant, wt position at 10 o'clock, pitch-12.00
filter1:lowpass 4, cutoff at 2 o'clock
fx1: dimension expander, size at 9:30 and dry/wet at 12 o'clock
eq: high shelf at 1:30
lfo:ratio at 1/24 or 1/16, modulate filter cutoff so green is on right and grey fully covers left, make top curve triangle uni and bottom curve sawtooth with xfade centered.
insert1: parabolic shaper, dry/wet full and drive about 2:30.
gl! add some distortion for extra grittyness :) :corndance:

00:00 - 00:20

That bright, Electro House synth. Great for chords and riffs. I've done all the basic two saws, detuned, lowpass, envelope modulation, and still nothing. What am I missing? I really need to buy Sylenth1, I hear it's great at such synths.

Anyone know if KOAN Sound uses a vst for their guitar riff that starts at :55? if so then how in the bloody hell would you start shaping a guitar like sound?

Also this

00:57, that flat, mid ranged synth used in chord form.
1:10, that little riff too, I think that's it again with a different filter cut off angle.

it's not a vst, it's a guitar sample.

That sound at 1:35, some sort of Reece Bass? How do you make that?

I recognize it in Noisia - Stigma as well.
I found a way to get piece of mind for years and left the hell alone, turn a deaf ear to the cellular phone

Trying to make interesting and 'full' basslines like this - www.youtube.com/watch?v=SHpFqHg2WUM

I've tried to build a standard 'wob wob' with sine waves, filters and mild distortion but no avail.

It sounds like a really neat wobble with sub bass underneath it,

How would I make such a phat sounding synth like the bass in this video.

How can I get this tone? I've been trying for a while, but the weird modulations keep throwing me off. Is it an envelope, or an automation, or some sort of detuning effect? I'm really stuck :dunce:

Ben, its a combination of detuning saws and automating notch filters. Takes some practice to be able to make neurofunk reeses like that
...in my opinion

Hey guys, wanted some insight into the design of the main bassline in Helicopter Showdown's - The Wrestler (the bass with the vocal samples incorporated after the drop, not the distorted mid-range hits in the bridge) if anyone has any ideas. Thanks!

I assumed it was a reese, but I can't seem to figure out how to keep both the high end and the low end intact while keeping the modulation still noticeable. Do I route all the oscillators to the notch, or just one? Are there any effects added? I've noticed with my other reeses, a phaser seems to give nice modulation but strips the sound of a lot of the aggression.
