Vi Del wrote:Trying to create an opinion on them based on youtube videos is just absurd. EOTO is amazing live, and if you haven't seen them play live then you don't know shit and are missing out. Their pretty big up here in Minneapolis and their coming back to town for Cinco De Mayo. And I laugh at you fools who think you perform better live music then they. EOTO are one of the top live electronic music groups around, they enjoy what they do, and the people at their shows enjoy what they do. They're just out there having fun, and it shows. They're also going to be some of the main performers at both the Electric Forest and Summer Camp music festivals this year, both I'm going to attend. No bias intended.
oh i've definitely seen them live, and they are just as awkward and the sound is just as rushed. when you try to manipulate sound live, it's best to use headphones to "test" or queue sounds. don't sit there and fiddle with your synthesizer like it's practice time. also, those drums have got to go. this sounds like journey dubstep.

hey that's great that they're having fun, but they've also conveniently placed their set fee in the "yes, we're professional" range.

sorry, there's no way around it. they make terrible music. they make a lot of money playing terrible music. you can justify spending $30+ to see these guys all you want, but it won't make the music any better.

donald trump sucks.

i really hope you are joking, to be honest.

EOTO plays around my area quite frequently.
I don't see what's so amazing about them.
It just gives me a good lol when I hear kids talking about them.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe they used to be more of a jam band a couple years ago.

It's the live aspect that makes me like them. They're not dj's, so they don't have polished and 100% programmed tracks like a lot of people do. They're a dubstep jam band and I think they're sick. The video OP posted isn't exactly they're best stuff :cornlol:

Their soundcloud's got the headie clippings:

hahaahahaha. So true. Although it would be kinda cool imo for some classically trained dj's to incorporate more live shit into shows

That's a really pessimistic way of looking at it. I'm always looking to expand myself musically and I don't plan on stopping when I get older. Sounds to me like they're just trying to keep pushing their music, not some gimmick to get the kiddies with

I've been unfortunate to have my ears raped by these buffoons a few times now. They are god-awful. They epitomize everything I hate about the direction bass music has taken in the states. I give them a real fuck off. Not in a 'fuck off you badman, and rewind that tune' sort of way, but more like, 'wow you guys totally suck and are hurting my ears, so would you kindly FUCK OFF and go back to being a shitty non-electronic jam band"

It sounds super fucking ametur. Like made by someone who's been knobbing about with synths a couple months.

Plus in terms of actual song writing it is utter wank.

There isn't a single good thing about this.

I can't really think of anyone else who sounds like them so there's not many others going in their "direction". I'm a sucker for electronic music with live drums. Its part of why I love The New Deal and STS9 so much and EOTO's drummer is sick. Producers have gotten so used to every sound being manufactured and then replayed that they've lost respect for the art of live music and improvisation. Definitely not the most refined synths ever, but I like the crunch in em and feel that its gunna expand into something even better.

And to be honest, I seldom listen to EOTO's tracks on my ipid or comp. But they put on a damn fine live show.
