Lol... I made another new track :P Again I wrote it on headphones so I have no idea how it'll sound on speakers/monitors. The drums are sucky and the high pitched part doesn't work so good but meh...
Soundcloud

Feedback for others:
@wizardd: Lol yeh, totally different track. Loving the sample at the start and the switch up, the high pitched part kinda gets annoying after a bit though, may just be my headphones though. Maybe tone it down and blend it with some fx?

@Ematyael: I like the intro on that track, everything sounds really nice and clear and the buildup is sweet. The bit around 1.20-1.22 seemed a bit off to me, idk why the notes didn't seem to gel. The rest of the track sounds good though,

Also, thanks Ematyael I'm going to try what you said with my track... my attempt at doing halfstep later in the track sounded shit so I'll attempt to do what you suggested :)

@Ematyael^2: I didn't like this as much as your first, the "wubs" seem way too harsh at the start imo, maybe try messing with the LFOs? or toning them down and mixing in some pads/synths? After the start the rest seemed much better, I liked the drums around 3.40 and the shit that started going on at 3.50 was nice ;)

Btw thanks to everyone that already gave me feedback, I put my 3 WIPS in my signature now so feel free to give me any feedback on the Soundcloud pages for my tracks, that would be awsm :)

Because somehow I always manage to post my WIPs at the bottom of the page of a thread, I shall post this signpost saying Pleeeeeaaaase go back one page and check out the two tunes I posted at the bottom. I left a lot of feedback and I don't usually get much because the thread switches to a new page and less people see my songs. Much love! Thanks.

@mthrfnk: I like the way you make the sounds, but I don't like the composition as much. I love the slow bass wobble at the drop, but the melody has too many notes I feel. Its like straight 8th notes, you should take some notes out for emphasis.

@Emat: Feeling it at the start, but I don't like those wobbles at all. Reminds me of thrashy death metal for some reason hahah. I like the melody you got with the bass, but the synth itself needs some work. I like soft, luscious sounds more than abbrasive ones, which is the sound you've got going. Sadistic, abbrasive dubstep can be sick, so just tweak the synths a bit and this tune will be sounding tight :W:

@wizard: Dope. I'm loving the screechy bass, definitely give this one some more work and make it full. You should add another bass or two to complete the screechy one, that would sound tremendous!

Here's my WIP. Started it today while tripping on fresh mushrooms :) Remix of Bill Wither's classic, of course:

@wizardd: fecking awesome. I could so get right into this at a rave. I think the sample could work a little better, and I'd personally do some glitching to add definition to the little breaks. Hope you're going to be working on this one :4:

@amiran: I love the structure and the ideas in the first wip, it's got an awesome drop and it makes me want to bounce. Maybe eq that crazy lead a bit and add some kind of mid layer chord type stuff, boost the hell out of that bass and improve your compression all round. I'm probably speaking from a biased viewpoint (as a vocalist) but I think the second one could really do nicely with some vocals, if you're interested give me a shout. The wip you posted on Wednesday was also really good, just my cup of tea actually.

Hey everybody, after much delay, here's a sneak peek on the latest "noise" I've been working on. This is still very much a WIP - and I'll probably be asked to take it down in short order, but figured I'd get some feedback.

It's a remix for a buddy of mine of one of his trance tracks:

White Noise Machine : "Illusion" : deafblind's dub-electro-stutter-thang remix:
Soundcloud

Comments would be lovely. This isn't mixed/mastered at all, most of it written on headphones.

EDIT : Updated for clippage as opposed to full track :sad panda:

If you don't take the time to listen to other people's tracks and tell them what you think, why should I do that for you?

@deafblindmusic sounds pretty cool to me, i like the chops and glitches. Some notes are out of key and sound bad, and try to get everything sounding more clear. Also please leave feedback for other people, man.

@FluidMoShun I like that soft lead it sounds really cool to me, but the bass sounds too weak and thin and in the higher range, I think it would do much more nicely as a lower growl type sound.

@mthrfnk sounds like something funky going on with your limiter or something and the drums are too quiet/weak, but the track sounds nice to me other than that.

I don't know if I should make a track from this. Never made dnb tracks before, but I really like the whole neurofunk deal. What do you think?

RE: Feedback, I am a prolific feedback giver (check a few pages back)

Feedback time:

@downfall : I like this, it's kinda different, almost like a techno breakdown but, built into a track. Synthy stabs are cool. Reminds me of N-Joi (probably wayyyy before your time : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gM6rn0R ... e=youtu.be)

@ekidd91 : Lovely atmospherics on this. Reminds of a movie soundtrack. The sub sound is the only criticism, it's too low in the mix, and for the highly atmospheric top half of the track you need some seriously deep bassline to keep your head in the game (so to speak).

@hiddenbase : Jesus. I freaking love that drop. The Autechre bleeps are wicked. Perc is awesome too. The only critique would be it's been brickwall limited to death and had all the dynamics driven out of it. Drop that distorted bass a little to give the other elements room to breath. Seriously nice track, really like it.

@I Am Cook : Moar sub! Drop the lead and work on some filters on it to give it some movement. The 2nd drop is kinda like a dentists drill (which may be the point). Try to work some variation into it.

@PhilthyLoman : Powernoise! Interesting (you should meet a friend of mine who writes very similar stuff). Like the selection of sounds, the only criticism would be the mix is kinda "muddy" as the bass is H.U.G.E (at least on my headphones).

@dalvare1 : Percussion (particularly the kick and snare) is lost. There's not many rhythmic elements in there to drive the momentum. The bass sound is good, but look also look at working in some variation to the main pattern, try some small edits, reverse some sections, automate some filters (more than you are).

@s3b : Zoidberg, nice. Snare needs more bite. I can see this working in a club. The sub must also be below 20hz, as I can hear hints of it in my phones, but it's not hitting where it needs to.

@dmisreal : Please don't take this as a criticism on your track at all, but I'm really getting bored with formant filtered bass sounds. Percussion needs some work, the pattern is fine, the snare needs more bite. The kick is also extremely short duration without any "weight", might look at re-tuning it or layering.

@oprs : Snappy, clean. Little atmospheric tricks in there, like it. Super chunky sub I dig too. I'd like to hear some more musical elements in there (perhaps work with the string section you're hiding in the background)

@orca : Gabba. Haven't heard that in a lonnnnnng time. I think if you increased the ratio on your sidechained lead the pump might be interesting.

@swaggr : I'm feeling this needs an English guy rapping on it or something, it's got that inner-city vibe. You know anyone?

@cheeky : Damn dude you're prolific. Heavy bottom end, liking that. Nice and spacey. I would like some more variation in the bass sound (I feel like a broken record saying that repeatedly).

@amiran : Club jump up. Complextro elements in there. I don't know if that's what you were going for. The high resonance sound that comes in at 1:30 is like, piercing. Might want to look at that. Props on mixing up the genres

@mthrfnk: Your snare needs way more bite, but this could be interesting with that fixed.

@sage1 : For a headphone mix this sounds pretty good to me. Perhaps needs a little more brightness (but my ears could also just be shot for the day). Like the melodic elements for sure.

@xgli7chx : Wobble wobble. The kick needs more punch, as does your snare

@homeless : Where the vocals from? Track has potential after a proper mixdown. Percussion is too low for me and that bass is huge, perhaps pull that down just a bit.

@Noisestorm : I like this, totally a crowd banger for sure. Lot's of variation too on the bass pattern. You've been listening to a lot of Feed Me/Skrillex ;)

@Loadium : I like the 2nd drop with the orchestral pads. A little incongruous with the first bit, but I like where it's headed for sure. I'd be interested to hear this finished. The little stop/reverse is good stuff too.

Ok, and I'm spent. More feedback tomorrow. Good work everyone

My bad man, there's a lot of people who log in just long enough to throw their track on here.. It gets on my nerves, but you're not one of them, sorry I lumped you in with them.. i just saw ur track with no feedback and thought you were.

Just gave it a proper listen and the mixing sounds pristine. Not exactly my cup of tea, but respect for putting together a behemoth-sounding track :W: The breakdown is sick but could perhaps use some light atmosphere.

@mthrfnk I like it I like the synth at the beginning, and the snare sound, at least to me kinda takes away from it opening with a kick into a nice clean snare or clap, one that sounds like its stamping its mark in the basses territory. I really like It a lot man, just idk maybe change the snare sound it sounds like it could be better. Otherwise Perfect track man I enjoyed it!! Again dont listen to what I say if thats what you were going for and make it into something gnarly you want :D

@FluidMoShun Wow I like that hahha soo mellow, I know its not finished but def bring the levels up more for everything

@deafblind Great job man I like it a lot !! Great quality too! Very nice job!!

@Jrisreal WHa?!?!!??! you dont know if you should make a track out of that!!!! DO IT NOW!!!! hahahaha so sick!

Ok so here is the almost done version of my the original song, I will definitely go back and fix Gangsta or just leave as is, cause its such a quick song that it may almost get annoying but it will be transferred into something fitting, Gangsta would be a quick "just rage and fucking go wild and jump" LOL, while transdimensional voyage would essentially be the same except dirtier more varied and fitting to rage to hahaha

I feel like the bass needs more work to be much louder, otherwise the sounds sound fine to me

No worries mate, I was like "hmphhhhh" at first, then I was like, yeah, lots of people do pull that crap all the time - perhaps I should put a counter in my sig that shows how many feedback messages I left :P Thanks for the feedback too.

Yep, some bum notes in there, that's what you get for rewriting a bass section and not paying attention ;) Thanks for the note on that for sure, made me go back - I'm uploading a new copy with those problems fixed (hopefully).

mthrfnk- the melody that kicks in at 28 is BEAUTIFUL, the drums bring the volume down at points ; try to eq just right so they dont get in the way of the melody. the bassline is cool ; could use a little more lfo variation, the synth that kicks in at 1:27 is too loud for the rest of the mix ; bring it down so it sits well with the rest of the mix.

FluidMoShun - really diggin those vocals, the bassline is very dubbish to me; with a new school twist which is good ; all this needs is a proper mixdown ; would love to hear the outcome.

orca- fuckin' love gabber, ive tried producing it in the past myself ; this is really dark ; which i like very very much; sidechain is smooth as fuck ; i really dig that kick ; 1:37 ; i love the really glitchy shit goin on. its really nice to see someone else likes gabber as well.

now, ch-ch-check this out

dirty sampleing... and a meen gritty bassline.. i like it alot and i wouldnt consider it brostep (thats a good thing imo) i here way to many of close to the same noises coming from the same synths... i LOVE originality in this beautiful genre.

Here is my new WIP, I'm glad you liked the one I posted earlier, this one should be of a slighly better standard, since I'm getting to grips with Logic. Thanks
Soundcloud

@mthrfnk That is sounding good on the monitors, the sounds are sick, mabye get everything cleaned up, and as clear as you can. Then it will be a sick track.
@FluidMoShun Sounds nice, but I think you should work on mixing, some of the sounds are really loud/quiet compared to the rest of the mix. Sounding good so far though.
@jrisreal I love the bass, but I think the drums could be strengthened, get some nice punchy samples in there! Good job with the bass.

@Noisestorm loving it again mate, you got some nice ideas for songs keep it up :D
@Rebel the drop comes in kind of awkwardly imo, some well placed cymbals can shape up the drop
@wizard fits the name perfectly, all i gotta say :D there is a lot going on though

only worked about an hour on this so far, the drums are really letting it down though, gotta get some heavier kicks and snares (gief money for packs!) and yes, i am working on more bass variation here :P

@noisestorm : I was gonna comment, but I had to step out, liked it...from what I can remember ;) Wanna collab on something sometime? I checked your SC - liked a lot what I found

@swaggr : There are LOADS of free percussion packs out there. Check DOA, and the production bible thread on this site. At a push, and depending on how enterprising you are feeling, you could make your own kicks and snares with just a synth. There's a couple of good free generators for percussion on KVRAudio, check it.

@JrIsReal : This shit is HEAVY. It sounds really good ! Good Job ! You should make a track !

@Wizardd : The Whoooooo is awesome and sounds great, but i think you should work a bit more for the structure of the track at the beginning, and maybe keep this fat sound for the drop. The drop is heavy too, and the sample comes at the best point, it helps the drop not to lose power with time. This sounds pretty good, keep on doing great stuff !

@Rebel : I like the sound but the drop has not enough hi pitched synth, you could duplicate your wobble and take the octave up. :)

Here is my track, made on Reason 5 :

I had a WIP to post but for some reason it isn't exporting so I'll leave this feedback and post it another time!

mthrfnk - Creepy intro, has caught my attention straight away.. As the volume swells I can hear a few frequencies which don't sound too pleasing - Just under the 2kHz mark it sounds like. Melody is awesome though and I like the panning.. I think if the panning was a TINY bit more subtle, it may improve it.. VERY compressed drums, which I really dig but they definitely need to be louder in the mix! Haha, well funny sample! Sick bass...

FluidMoShun - Haha, for tripping on mushrooms it's a pretty good attempt at melody! I like the portamento effect on it a lot.. Would I listen to it...? Maybe not, but it's still fun and I like it

deafblindmusic - VERY well produced intro, voice sticks out well and great panning effects... Seems like different vocal takes, I assume it came like this? Snare build is sick, a little too aggressive the second time it happens maybe. Bass it ridonculous though.. Really digging that

jrisreal - Yeah I like the reese but it could do with being 'neater' in the mix, not taking up so much space maybe.. The hats need more variation. I think it's definitely worth persevering with as with a good intro / build up, this would be a banger

wizardd - I like the pitch down sound at the beginning.. It's awesome, actually. Overall it's pretty damned good, just a little messy.. Needs tidying up!

rebel - I like the vocal quality to the synth in the intro and the panned delay is good.. Got a massive psy-trance vibe going on here... Really good sample... Very deep drop but it needs more sub and maybe another less "yoi"ish wobble on top?

Swaggr - GREAT melody.. Instantly likeable.. Great filtering.. When the beat drops it definitely seems very weak.. Unless this is a build to something more..? The drop is good but it could be a whole heap better.. Needs more power behind it for sure

I Am Cook - I really like the synth in the intro.. Sounds FMish but I didn't think Reason had an FM synth? Nice build up.. Kick could maybe be higher in the mix. Good breakdown.. Drop is pretty sick actually.. I really like this!
