hmm i dunno :/ i mean for the acid sounds maybe, but even then some sound pretty harsh and not the standard acid sound, id be surprised if they have a 303 hahacharleswpeck wrote:TB-303 I'm guessing:Drop_Dead wrote:Shit these are amazing.
Anyone know what they are using to make these synth sounds?

sound a lot rougher to me than blawan's own materialSnaresounds wrote:Both tracks are very nice, but they kinda sound like something Blawan would have produced on his own
and pariah turns his hand to all sorts, cant really pigeonhole his sound

Re: Karenn - Untitled/Caretaker
Hm yeah they definitely do sound harsher, just knew Blawan was a huge fan of them. Definitely used it for the R&S release.
Re: Karenn - Untitled
Agreed - rougher, tougher and darker. The recent Syncopy remix is quite similar in tone perhaps.noam wrote:sound a lot rougher to me than blawan's own materialSnaresounds wrote:Both tracks are very nice, but they kinda sound like something Blawan would have produced on his own

Although saying that it's easier - to my ears - to pinpoint the Blawan input/influence on these tracks than the Pariah influence. Probably because right now Blawan has such a recognisable sound, particular with regards to percussion, that you could probably get him in a marching band and you'd hear it. As you say Pariah is kind of all over the shop so he could be anywhere.

some of milton bradley's stuff has a similar vibesoulkids wrote:^
absolutely, I like this kind of techno/house/dubstep hybrid thing. anything else to recommend beside the usual suspects? most techno I've heard gets boring quite fast because the basslines are just too monotonous for my taste. and I'm not a huge fan of those standard loop-techno tracks if you know what I mean... nothing beats blawans basslines

Not looking for feedback or anything but decided to take a stab at making a Karenn type track over the past few days. Thought you all might like it? None of my mates are really into that sort of thing so I thought I'd share here. There's a free DL too, if you're into it.

Re: Karenn - Untitled/Caretaker
Not really sure what i think of these tracks, tbh.
Kinda reminds me of some weird, dark DnB mixed with techno.
Sounds a little bit too blurry I guess. Caretaker is quite nice though.
Do not really understand what you guys are on about at this "hybrid house/techno thing" as something new.
You know Techhouse exists right? Just go on a online record shop that supports some underground techno and listen, and you will find loads of similar stuff.

when i see techhouse i alway think of like that shit off beatport like mark knight or some shit that sounds real clean and rigid and has no real groove.q-t wrote:Not really sure what i think of these tracks, tbh.

Yeah, that's true. A big part of the Techhouse stuff is shit. Check out the techno selection on hardwax. You can find some really good stuff there.skimpi wrote:when i see techhouse i alway think of like that shit off beatport like mark knight or some shit that sounds real clean and rigid and has no real groove.q-t wrote:Not really sure what i think of these tracks, tbh.

Just feels like many people on this board always follow the same "bass music" producers, and rarely look on the "real" house/techno scene even though there's so much good stuff out there.
Nice to see a kind of shift towards that direction now.

Sensational Suggestion! I just got into Derrick May, Julian Atkins, and the other Detroit producers and I wasn't really sure where to go after that.q-t wrote:Yeah, that's true.
