Or just go to your privacy settings and select the option that no one can see your number. It's easy to do.
Also, if you're so pedantic about your privacy than you shouldn't be using Facebook in the first place.
If you're so pedantic about your privacy, and you use Facebook, then you should've added real friends only. You know, people that actually may see your number.

You guys don't know shit about your privacy. My number doesn't show up. I remember it distinctly asking me if I wanted my number displayed. I checked NO. My number and many of my friends numbers don't show up on facebook regardless of facebook mobile use.

I suspect facecbook is one day looking to mesh it's chat with all this mobile and blur the lines with this.

What i am more concerned about is this has happened before, FB seems to constantly make it appear as if you are adding info you aren't changing privacy settings as new ones are added (auto checking them on).

It all makes it appear like you are sharing in you would never do, this possibly encourages others to add info they wouldn't. FB has a strangle hold now but it's early days in social sites so plenty more time for new ones to come along and do it better.

I suppose anyone can come up randomly in the contact bit, like if you was to search something you can see peoples posts who you aren't friends with, abit like that?
