Not really. I haven't posted any weird obscure film. It's just a simple love story that happens to be Russian. I know it sounds arrogant but I don't find Black Dynamite for example a film that anyone's likely to miss. There's been a dozern threads in here about it for example.

I wouldn't call Intacto weird or obscure but it is certainly one of the most original films I have seen and certainly one of the best Spanish films I have seen.




Guess it depends if you want to watch films that are marketed as being cult like or underground or not. I guess Trollejergen falls into that category, and it is excellent. I highly recommend it, proper refreshing change to zombies and vampires. I loved it

I think the OP wants films that are generally mainstream / indie and easy enough to watch. I think that might rule out 'foreign launguage' films (not saying people shouldn't watch them - DO WATCH THEM, just maybe not what OP wants )

Most people want entertainment (ie to turn their brain off a bit) when they watch a film. Russian b/w films aren't what most people look for.

I do love them though.

It's very good. Russian B/W films may not be to everyone's taste but vacuous pretend B movies are usually one hit wonders. Great the first time, good the second time, third time..... meh! Not for me anyway, I enjoy them much like anyone else but I don't get any satisfaction from them.

Love these both. Humpers was like some kind of homage in ways to Even Dwarfs Started Small, at least in my mind, like the random yelling. Korine and Herzog have worked together though and are pretty close.

Anyway since it's not about obscure arty films, a pretty high budget film I think deserves more attention:

Blood in Blood Out, better known in Europe as just Bound by Honour. Epic 3 hour+ ganglife/prison film that takes you through the course of a few people's lives and how they change and how it affects the people around them. I saw this in the cinema when it came out, years and years ago, and loved it, bought the DVD, then didn't watch it for about 4 years until I caught it on Film4 a month or two ago, reminded me how much I like it.

Long time since I read the graphic novel but I can remember watching the film and thinking "that's now how I imagined her voice" etc. It is certainly worth watching!

I wonder if they'll ever make Maus into a cartoon.
