There are several other composers who also inspire me, I just wanted a reason to post that portrait of Bach three times.

Re: The what inspires you thread!
In terms of electronic music specifically, I like working from the "subconscious" so to speak...kind of translating how I personally interpret the world around me into a kind of sound track. I spent three years living in a totally rusted out old steel town (Youngstown, OH) and the landscapes, the abandoned buildings, the decaying machinery etc have really informed my sound. Dreamscapes/landscapes I think translate well into soundscape. I've also always adored science fiction and post apocalyptic stuff and so there is a lot of that in there too.
I often thought about the question "what is the music machines make when humans aren't around?" when making electronic music. I'm not usually worried about anything sounding terribly organic.

Thank you, captain obvious. I've actually cropped, printed and stuck it on my fridge for my parents to see. I'm taking full credit though.Mammoth wrote:Mine looks so much more professional

Re: The what inspires you thread!
heartbreak.... only problem with that method is that eventually you start to move on and run out of that hungry, inspired feeling. got at least 10 songs out of the last one though.
and when that's through, the process goes like this.. meet someone new, fall in love prematurely, act too obsessive, end up scaring her, she runs away, and BAM -- we're back in business.

Re: The what inspires you thread!
I tested this, with all the gadgets on the RDP theme on screen, it only uses a mere 4016KB of ram. The load out I have now is just under 3000KB of ram. It doesn't consume anything really c:legend4ry wrote:GothamHero wrote:Win7, but I whore out Rainmeter a lot. Try it, it's an incredibly fun tool, haha. Just heard an Eskmo track for the first time today! DUDE IS A GENIUS! Reminds me a lot of Amon Tobin! Great stuff just thought I'd add!

I don't see my desktop enough to want to trick it out. Full-screenin' Ableton 24/7 like a real American hero.
My inspirations include: vintage tech, mainstream garbage, Benassi music videos, Zapp, P Funk, garage rock, music from Megaman, dance punk, Ziggy Stardust, The Cars, and Zomboy.
