so you're saying it should've been a 9+ so much more people got killed, is that it?
I'm saying it should be a 5.9 and people should go back to work... especially those working in our capital city.

When I was in college in San Diego we got hit by a 6.8 and our teacher didn't even stop her lecture.
Man up east coast.
When did San Diego get hit by a 6.8 earthquake?
Plus, you guys know nothing. It's not necessarily the magnitude of the earthquake, it's also the depth. A 5.9 at 1km deep would probably feel like a 6.8 at a depth of 40kms.

Guys Obama is safe! He is vacationing at Martha's Vineyard. Thank Goodness!
Also, for those saying there was no damage- it took almost a day for any legitimate death reports when the tsunami/quake hit Japan so unless you are some kind of psychic, fuck off.
Obviously this was not nearly as severe/comparable as Japan's situation but still, no need to make assumptions.
And there has been reports coming in about old historical homes that have taken some damage to the exterior.

yeah I know nothing having lived in California... are you joking dude? lol
Baja California Norte has an insanely active faultline that effects San Diego regularly. The one I was speaking of was in summer of 2004... There was a 7.2 that hit the San Diego area as recent as last easter.

Sorry, I wasn't doubting you. Just couldn't find any record of it on the USGS site.
Living in cali you'd understand when I talk about the depth. 1km deep is freakishly shallow.

Sucks that Google got rid of Google Realtime. One of the funniest things ever was typing stuff like that into Realtime for Twitter and seeing people post stupid shit like that nonstop.

yeah.. its not really fair to call them out.. East coast doesn't really get big earth quakes.
so when they do its a big deal.. seems safe to me.
It'd be like the west coast getting hit with a hurricane.. even if it were small, they'd still be put off by it.. no hate tho, they just aren't use to it.

Oh well I do sincerely apologize for the earthquake not doing significant damage to more of the population.
I don't see what there is to laugh at unless you are just criticizing me.

Oh, don't get so defensive. Of course, I'm not saying it "should' have been worse. It's a friendly pisstake based on the overreaction of some journalists and the phrasing of your post... you're going to have to get a sense of humour if you're going to hang out in SNH.
