hockey seems ridiculously harsh tbh, crazy bastards. Ice Hockey teams have a player whose job it is to intimidate the other team and get revenge for bad tackles or something isn't there? Mental
That's north american sports really.
in baseball if you hit a batter or show them up you're gonna get hit with a 100mph fastball to the chest.
in football if you take a cheap shot on the quarterback when your team is on D they're gonna cheap shot one of your people... or a crackback block
in basketball if you get a hard foul they'll put in another player off the bench to flagrantly foul them...
and yeah in hockey there's usually one 'enforcer' who if they feel their goalie is being fucked with or if there was a bad penalty they'll come in and level them or straight up start a fight.
i went to college my freshman year with a guy named mike commodore at the university of north dakota.... he was their enforcer. One game a dude from minnesota tripped our goalie and then speared him with the end of his stick. So the coach put mike commodore in and he went over there and literally punched the kid in the back of the head and knocked him out cold, picked up his stick, and handed it to a kid in the stands lol
dunno you could say that about virtually any sport in existence, Stuart Pearce kicks people's faces in at football etc
this is well 'good' though
what is of value and wisdom for one man seems nonsense to another.
If we're going to talk about enforcers in hockey, they hardly even exist anymore. They left with Tie Domi

I remember this being a big deal, especially since we picked up Bertuzzi after this. The kids neck probably wouldn't have been broken (or as bad) had his whole team not dog piled on top of him.

nothing hits harder on the hands/legs (sometimes their head if theyre on a beamer ting) than a fast ball from the likes of ian botham etc...
they do bowl regularly at over 100mph. and thats no exaggeration...

yeh man cricket is the shit, proper mans game. i had a bouncer come through the gap between the helmet peak and chin guard and hit me in the eye and get lodged in the helmet, fucking hurt, and that was when i was about 12 playing for my village. i used to shit myself a little bit every time i went out to bat.
on topic though it seems to me that americans always have a chip on their shoulder and have to start 'discussions' about american football so that they can slate rugby and defend their sport. who gives a flying fuck, i dont like american football and dont particularly like rugby that much either. hardly anyone in the UK gives two shits about american football and im sure its same way about rugby in the US. it doesnt matter what sport hits harder, its not like its a competition. if everything was compared that way why dont we say boxing is better than all of them cause the whole idea of the sport is to batter the fuck out of another guys face until he cant take no more.
cricket is the ultimate gentleman's sport like, I can't think of any other sport where honesty is so prevalent that a player's opinion on wether a score mas made against him is taken as fact by the referee
