Nah you don't need anything added to make good tunes, creativity is the key and you are either born with it or without it.. simples

And for the record whenever I've tried drinking (I don't do drugs anymore) and making tunes it just ends up some deep,dark very weird tune which sounds alright but I'm not sure how it would go down haha got a few just saved on my hard drive.. but after a night out the last thing I want to do is make tunes so I just end up in bed -_-

Downers yeah. Weed is a bit of both, I get pepped up sometimes. Depends on a lot of variants.

Usually will smoke when making or working on music, but don't overdo it. That's when you start loopmonging and sit there tweaking a snare for 30 minutes. I like to use it to enhance stuff, so I might have a couple of puffs and that's it. Sometimes I get into a natural groove and forget all about smoking though.

DMT isn't recreational or productive IMO, that's an introspective spiritual journey type thing. Mushrooms are almost that, but they can be quite "social" too. LSD even more so. MDA/MDMA especially, but I would suggest not writing melodies or attempting a mixdown on E lol. I once read some production tips on the Offkey Recordings (techno/dnb) forum years ago where I think Propaganda (?) listed "don't write melodies on ecstasy" during a Q&A session haha. Indeed.

Drugs do play an important role in music. Just look back to all the early jazz musicians, sometimes nodding off on stage from the opiates. Drugs have definitely contributed to some amazing music, but hard drugs have also played a dark role when so many amazing musicians get too far gone and end up dying. Some people just take it too far. Gotta find a balance and go easy.

I've tried making tunes while being high, but I doesn't really work for me. I just play a little melody on my keyboard, record it, put some drums over it, then get bored and start something new haha

I smoke a ton of weed everyday but i have been doing so for years so in some ways i think it's a lot easier for me to function and get stuff done after smoking than less experienced smokers..

I do want to cut down though, because it does make it hard to stay focused sometimes.. And my memory is awful.

I think with most things in life, at least for me, its not about a given thing being 'good' or 'bad'.. It's about finding a good balance and not going too far in either direction.. if you know what i mean..

How did you smoke it? If you want proper effects you need to use a pipe with a bulb at the end (meth pipe lol), vaporize the dmt for 45 seconds and inhale for 30 seconds (until you start tripping).

I was smoking it out of a light bulb.

Maybe it was bunk? DMT should definitely last a LOT longer than 30 seconds.

Loved it. My kind of trip. Nothing to make a habit of, though, no point in that.

I didn't, but the guy I bought it from spent 12 hours extracting it in his friends apartment.

i usually don't produce under the influence but on occasion i'll toke up or have a few drinks and just pump out a tune all in one night and throw it up on the soundcloud. when i'm sober sometimes i'll sit there for hours over thinking and over analyzing on what to do and how to do it, but when i'm at least a little buzzed i just get shit done without thinking or worrying about anything. personally it brings out a side of creativity that i love. the track below was a song i cranked out in one night after having some beerskis.

Nah, he's right. Cocaine is, like, $60 a gram here... I can buy a twelve pack of Coke for less than $5 at Safeway.
