Sofware, or hardware?

Budget?

Do you want lots of built-in modulation?

Do want want flexible filter bank?

ect...

I personally use Tom's Low Pass and High Pass..Pretty good little units :)

The sonalksis tbk1 is awesome! Best sounding VST filter in my opinion... sounds clean as fuck and got a lovely resonance.
Sugar bytes WOW is also great... i really like it's overdrive sound and it's formant filtering. The Fabfilter stuff is great as well (simplon is a massive filter for it's money).
