New tricks for you old dogs...

Post by luce » Wed May 23, 2007 6:01 pm

Allow me to introduce something new into the mix...

Image

Experimenting in the areas of crossover between contemporary dance and bass-driven music :::HAND/EYE coordination::: is a collaborative project between wild dancers, visionary VJs and the speaker-columns they worship. Inspired by the imagery, culture and (of course) sounds of the hard-dark-electronic party circuit :::dubstep:::DNB:::IDM:::breakcore::: etc.

By using dancers in place of traditional projection screens used by VJs at parties and events, HAND/EYE acts as a powerful visual interpretation of electronic music, one-upping the traditional party visuals. More an atmospheric layer than a performance, per se, HAND/EYE amplifies the driving force of the party :::bass::: via the expressive potential of the human body.

I am presently gettin snare-whipped in Rotterdam, Netherlands, but I'll be returning to my home-base in Montreal, Canada at the end of July 2007. Things are in the works on both sides of the ocean, but we’re looking to pack the next few months with as many projects as possible. So HOLLA!

Our DEBUT is coming up on Friday, June 1st: Speaker Freaker @ Club Stalker in Haarlem, NL. Check the event post HERE.

That sounds really intriguing. But also hard to imagine if one asn't seen it...
So I concur with Seckle and hope for a "I has a bass-face-dance video"-thread.

we'll put up video after this goes down, definitely. there should also be some really nice photos too. but all in good time, friends. i'm not really sure what's going to happen either...hehe...still in experimental stages now, and with loads of room to develop this further.

projectors will likely be just a bit brighter than dancing under stage lights, so we should be ok...cross your fingers for us, just in case :D

Delayed posting.

We've done two gigs now. A small one with Tmus, Gomes, Osiris, G-Selector to get us started.

The second was a major gig in Utrecht in June: Bojcot Selectah and the now newly formed Ranstad Rollaz (MCs XL3 and Ram, DJ Funkula), U Dub, and a back-to-back with Chef and Hatcha.

I have the vid footage, but it needs to be editted. in the mean time however, Derek Djons' photos of Dubstep a Go Go 2 are magnificent:
