Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
mthrfnk - I like the melody from 1.25. The sample is sort of lame or at least how it's used. Then at 1.52 it gets even better. I love the highish lead, but I wish the bass growl comes through better and loud. It's a pretty important melody that would make the song a lot better. I don't like 2.48, it's too muddled and the same. But overall it has a really strong melody and the kick and most sounds can shine through. I understand that headphones make the mix worst, my WIP I'm about to post up might sound bad due to using my headphones.
Chroma_ - Started out really bad and then I got it, I actually like it now. Nice melody and unique buzzy bass. Sounds like a notch to me. Anyways, really chill. Like this. Maybe at 3.26 it should change up, it gets boring. Maybe it needs to build back up, because the ending is nice.
Standby - I had to turn it up a notch. Instantly enjoyed it, jazzy sorta. And dubish. I'm referring to OTHER WIP.
Here is my WIP. I'll come back here and give more feedback to others tomorrow if I can.
My mixdown was done on my headphones since I'm on vacation. I'd like comments on anything. And do the kick and snare sound good? Thanks!

Cmon someone look at mine
@eldoogle the bass I think could be turned down a hit.
Reverb on the snares and a tad on the bass could help too.

First post! Woooo Whatup DSF. Been lurkin for a minute just learning a bit here and there. Stumbled upon this sound today and I'm pretty set on making a track out of it. Heres what I got so far. Snare is to my liking (maybe add some airy after effect) and the kick kind of is, I guess with some more equing. Dunno what to add to the percussion pattern nothing seems to work ha. Just sorta threw some subbass on there. But yeah. For some one starting out (this is the 3rd thing I've made). I would love to know what you peeps think. I'm going for that HENCH sound.

Alright i'm pissed as fuck right know because i had like 7 lines of comment on you Mammoth but then my browser froze. I'll try to reconstruct it the best i can.
@Standby.
First song - Like the percussion, though i feel it's a little dry. Pan some stuff, widen some stuff, reverb some stuff.
Second song - Said i loved the atmosphere, especially the sub, it's a bit IDM'ish. The drums are spot on. The horn thingy is a bit "plastic", try messing with velocities and don't snap it to the tempo grid, play it in with a midi keyboard rather. Automate the volume too and maybe reverb a bit.
Third song is my favourite. Love the 16th percussion thingy. Love the kick in the intro. Love the drums in general. Love the chiptune thingy. Love the melody in general. No remarks at all. I'd buy this tune. Followed ya.
@Hendy - i love the entire song, except for the actual drop. The wobble (not really a wobble but whatever) ruins the atmosphere completely. I'd loose it completely and put a sub wobble in there with very few harmonics.
@Malloy09 - Nice wobble. Compress the sub a bit. Also, i feel your snare is a little thin.
Alright, now for mine, it's not really dubstep, it's more house mixed with brostep. You know, feed me style. (hence the name)
Feedback would be much appreciated.

thanks a lot for the replies guys, lots of constructive criticism

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
standby, really diggin all your stuff man, its got a real natural sounding vibe to it. following on soundcloud now.
rmonik- i like the intro a lot before the drop, got a nice bouncy feel to it but the drop is almost boring in comparison to the build up. but i do like the overall feel and bounce to the track.

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@RmoniK - Interesting, has a nice vibe to it. Not much feedback though, I guess you know what you're doing! What I can suggest though, is at one point (maybe at 1:45), add a nice hat in between kick-snares to give it a more rapid, dancy feel, since its house-ish.
@malloy09 - Awesome sub, but need to be compressed I think :S. Elaborate beat and add some more mid (some melody) and highs (hats maybe). Then post again, cause I want to see your final version!
@eldoogle - I think the kick needs to be punchier. Compress + EQ should do the trick. I like using a VST called Bazzism2, best VST for making kick from scratch (and easy as hell to use!). As for the snare, it's sounding closer to a clap in my opinion. Get a snappy snare, reverb it, and layer it to this (and EQ everything). Should sound more solid. As for the synth/wobble, it's sounding kinda "loose". The sub is good, its rather groovy, but the mid needs to be a bit more elaborate. The melody is kinds repetitive as well, some variations on the rate would be interesting. If you're using massive, the tip I can give you is, exepriment with LFOs and envelopes on EVERYTHING (LOL)! Good luck, and most importantly, have fun!!!
I wasn't going to post this until I finished, but I could use some suggestions. The second bit, where it breaks randomly, was random (lol), I just did anything there.

Feedback for others:
@Mammoth - Really nice clean percussion, I liked your kick. Thats pretty much all I can say since my current headphones pretty much failed at letting me hear your sub at the end properly
@eldoogle - Thx for the feedback, I might get round to tidying that WIP up. As for your track, the intro wasn't really to my taste I found the synth too droney until the higher pitched midbass melody kicked it. The production is nice though, everything sounds clear and crisp - nothing sounds muddy to me.
@RmoniK - Very Feed Me as you said, reminds me a lot of Pink Lady. I like you high pitched dutch style lead, your build is cool too and I like how you chopped and filtered those wubs. But the drop itself ruined it for me if I'm honest, idk why really, I was expecting more of a punch. I'd cut the high pitched bit after the drop and bring it in a bit later and instead add some more midbass or whitenoise type stuff to fill out that drop.
@Randomic - Solid intro and build up although imo I would cut the main synth lead just before and after the drop, anyways I like the rest of the track - nice speed up on the second half too. I say just tighten everything up and you've got a solid track.
------------------------------------
Started messing around with another electrohouse track today, not sure how it'll sound on monitors/speakers since I wrote it on headphones, although once again after listening to the track on my netbook the sound quality seems to have gone to shit compared to listening to the track on my actual PC. Any feedback would be awesome:

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
@mthrfnk
Thanks for the feedback man!
Actually means a lot as that's the first kick I've made in an FM synth.
Really digging your track too
The cool synth that starts at around 21 seconds is sick and then the one at around 36 fits really well.
After the "drop" (Does electrohouse have these?) the glitchy effects are insane.
The build up with kick drum is a little plain I'd add other percussion and a sweep too.
The reverse cymbals are nice though.
Overall: if I was at a party and this song played Id dance the fuck out of it.

Even better that you made it dude, I really should make more of my percussion - I'm too reliant on stock samplesMammoth wrote:@mthrfnk

Thanks, I'm thinking some crazy high hats or maybe even a cowbell or some shit may spice up the start. As for the after "drop" glitchup I actually got really lucky making it sound nice by just playing with random settings in dBlue GlitchMammoth wrote:Really digging your track too

Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
Thanks. This made me realize my kick might need some lower thump to it. And the clap was purposeful, but maybe a snare would sound better. I also watched a video on bassizm and it sounds good, but I won't buy or download it until I'm back home.Randomic wrote: @eldoogle - I think the kick needs to be punchier. Re: WIPs/unfinished tunes for feedback * no finished tunes *
I read some feedback on my track and to those who asked I made the bass from Albino 3 layered and resampled.
I feel like I got the backbone down and i just need to go back and make it a little more listenable, so if anyone wants to give it a listen and tell me what you think needs changed that would be great.
