Just saw on your blog your a fellow bodyboarder! If your haven't, check out the IBA at chopes when Damien King wins in like 2003/2004, some real history there and some huge waves, probably the biggest IBA Tahiti event in terms of swell ever. I think it's on one of the early Tension vids from back in the day, massive stuff.

EDIT just found this pic of the riptide cover he got, barrel claim and all

Shark Island? Jeez another terrifying slabby wave, wish I lived near some class waves like that. Good to see some more surfers/bodyboarders here!

Well I'm glad I didn't grow up surfing the North Sea finj.
What's the best wave you've ever had around your way?
(like locally, not Cornwall or France)

You?
Nice one, you surf suck rock much?

I'm up on the northern beaches, around mona vale / narrabeen area so just a few of the local reefs and beachies, nothing special but when I was super motivated I'd head up the central coast or down to the south coast for some real waves, not doing too much of that these days though.

@finji I can't begin to imagine how cold the north sea is :o Whats the surf like?

Yeah guys it get's stupidly cold here in winter, donning the 6mm wetsuit all year round.. Surf can be pretty good when there's a nice low pressure system and a storm near Norway. Classic waves like that are rare though really.. There's one good point break around here called Cayton Bay Point

Image

Still Jealous of you guys up in Australia, It's not good for bodyboarding here because there's no real slabs, just kind of weak waves mostly.. That's why I want to check out western Ireland !

^nice inside suck, better than I thought you'd get conditions-wise

& I used to surf Suck Rock...
the right is a lovely tight backdoor barrel but everybody & his dog is on it nowdays
I'm happy to say I've had Little Av at 6' offshore to myself too!
Lived for a few years near Depot before the bombie got mobbed...
but I've still got a few secret spots down the coast.

LA without the locals :h: Crowds are out of control in Sydney

That's a real nice area of coast down Bawley Point to Durras, plenty of quality in a relatively small patch of coast line
Funny how after Todd Barnes did Video with that first real big session at Depot everyone started going crazy for the wave, I only went out there once and I don't think I ever will again

It's been so long since I've been down, stinging for a quick run and gun to Mystics for some wedges

Sydney may not have dubstep but at least we have waves
