when individuals feed bullshit to others some may listen (tho doubt it in this case) could have a whole group of idiots believing a load of rubbish and you know how bad that can be...
I don't believe he's feeding bull****...I believe all opinions in this thread to a degree. For instance, do self-masters when sending out tunes...don't just send the final mix and also don't waste money on professional mastering. Also, labels probably do want to see the artist taking initiative, but they wouldn't want to sign a track that has already gotten some exposure due to loss of potential income. etc.

I don't like it when people gang up on a guy just because he's sharing his opinion. It really shows the generally bad attitudes people can have on this forum. His ways might work, who knows? Only time will tell, not a thread full of trolls.

Have a problem with my opinion? feel free to write thousands of responses telling me about how stupid, ignorant, and misleading I am.
...in my opinion

It was as much his attitude as anything else tbh, mate.

In the course of this thread, he called basically called Sparxy's label shit, told Mad EP he knew fuck all about the game, announced he was only in Dubstep for the money, stated that getting Radio1/Rinse airplay meant fuck all, compared Dubstep to pop music, gave spurious information on Beatport & Juno regarding release schedules, and said that unless a label sells 30k units per release it's basically failing.

All whilst failing to backup half his claims when challenged with hard information, or else hiding behind the mask of "I'm too busy/important".

In short, wasteman.

Wub summed it up perfectly really.

He's just a wasteman with a bad attitude. Some of the people he insulted run labels, some of these people have been working in the scene for 10 years or more, signing and selling records for producers that have gone on to become what some people would describe as big. Toric on the other hand has zero experience working/being in this scene. I seriously doubt he has distribution through Sony, and I seriously doubt he has worked in marketing for Century Media, because if he had either of those things he wouldn't have been so fucking stupid.

There's only one hater in this thread as far as i'm concerned! What a stupid thread this turned out to be :corntard:

The fact of who insulted who is largely irrelevant to my previous post tbh, Toric. All of the points I raised can be backed up by reading through this thread. The same cannot be said about half of the stuff you've come up with.

It is completely relevant, as you've encouraged a flame war here, Wub.

Then you flat out said I insulted all these people with all these "credentials," when I literally just defended myself against their insulting flaming tones. You can't deny that.

So it is relevant.

Could be mistaken, but I'm fairly sure you brought that on yourself.

Tek had sent me a flame letter after being an asshole to me, which is on the front page of the thread.

Maybe you guys should check your own attitudes?

On top of that, that was all said and done, and wasn't even RELEVANT to half of the insulting and discussion and flame that went on here.

And again - all of that was brought on yourself... as Wub clearly pointed out, you insulted Sparxy's label, said I didn't know what I was talking about even though you admitted you hadn't even read my post, you dissed people who obviously have over a decade of experience in the scene - although you have none and refuse to back up any of your claims with any kind of proof, relevant experience, etc.

Nevermind the fact that you conveniently ignored my systematic accounting of why I know what I know... you haven't bothered to answer to Pete-Bubonic's post either. Why? Because he is well respected throughout the scene, he knows what he is talking about and gave specific examples. He didn't need to say that his Aunt once worked with a Dubstep label and so therefore people should believe what he says with no verification...

I am happy to stand corrected if you can give any shred of proof that you know what you are talking about... but you don't. Even in your second post you wrote -
Toric wrote:I forgot, record labels want to willingly do everything for you for free.
Which just proves you have never worked with a real label... NO proper label would expect its artists to pay for their own mastering. Any record label worth their weight in salt will not just willingly, but AUTOMATICALLY pay for mastering, pay for artwork, pay for manufacturing, pay for postage costs, etc because they are signing the right to sell the artists music. If a label acts like they are doing the artist a favor by paying for mastering, or grumbling because they are shouldering the costs of very basic and standard procedures, then they are Mickey Mouse labels run by charlatans.

Yes, and they don't do ANY of that for free....

It's usually part of the record deal and written in to the contract you fucking speng!!!!!!! It is standard record label procedure that the label pays for mastering, artwork, some other bits and pieces and the costs are deemed recoupable from the sales revenue of the track. This is where the revenue split comes from and why it all happens in the first place

You are a FUCKTARD. How can you even argue? I run a label and you don't, surely I am more qualified to know about this shit than you are?
As is everyone in this thread, they ALL have MORE industry experience than you!
