I agree a genre of music must have some guidelines... but what drew me to dubstep in the first place was how loose it was and how it was just: around 70 bpm, lots of bass. if we start compiling lists about what makes a tune dubstep or not... then count me out. this is kind of depressing really.
this reminds me of this thread a while back of this guy asking what makes a good dubstep beat and sending over JPEGs of his midi drum pattern.
this shit makes me sad man.
