SCRATCHA DVA brings his unique blend of funky to The Rhythm Factory. Rinse FM's hardest working host has produced numerous anthemns in recent years; "Natty" / "Just Vybe" / "God Made Me Funky" / "Jelly Roll" to name a few. With a reputation for his high-energy, no-nonsense DJ sets, we look set to witness something simultaneously deep yet wholey appropriate for carnival.
SPATIAL is no stranger to the thing some call UK Bass Music. He started releasing beautiful garage tracks in 2008 on Infrasonics, the label he's been associated with since. Consistently ethereal, it's not until a producer like SPATIAL compiles together everything they've done (on an LP for Infrasonics) that you realise just how vital he is. Recently, from what we've heard, forthcoming productions are more in key with deep house and techno, with sampled diva vocals and detroit licks - we're a fan of 100714b.
WALTON plays b2b with GUGU. The two come down from Manchester for the night for what should be an hour of upfront rhythms. WALTON's imminent EP for Hyperdub has been much talked about, but we've been a fan since he remixed DJ Eastwood (Google will help you get to know). Likewise GuGu has been bubbling away for some time, the two tracks on Scratcha DVA's own label are so raw and have more in common with South African house music than it does with UK Funky.
LOGOS rounds things off, with clear Grime influences, his recent production have been absolutely next. He's got music coming out on Blackdown's Keysound soon. Haunting, beautiful and euphoric, we can't wait to see what he brings to the table.
The four sets should really showcase the most exciting music coming out of the UK right now. Of course there's our residents too - Sduk, Cntrst and Rylski.
