Logic crashing on relatively good macbook pro

Post by abakus » Thu Sep 15, 2011 6:38 pm

Hiya, I'm having a bit of problem with logic pro 9 and a 2.16 GHZ core 2 duo mac pro, it keeps crashing several times when playing the track and it's quite distracting when playing through a song.

Here are my specs

2.16 GHz Intel core 2 duo,
2 GB RAM
250GB 5400 rpm hard drive

at first i thought upgrading ram would help but on the activity monitor it says i still have about 500MB of free space.

It happens even when im running logic with no other applications open.
Thanks

Using NI Massive, but only for three track layers, and logic pro 9.1.5. Not using any other plugins.

Thanks

Is any of your software cracked copies?

do you mean crashing, or the system overload? the way you talk about it being distracting when playing the tune makes me think its the latter rather than crashing and being unfuctional until restarting or it closing down by itself. i dont know many remedies for overloads as i have worse specs than you so it does it all the time to me, but only really when there are loads of tracks, how many tracks are we talking overall?

try frezzing tracks, or bouncing midi to audio, and then furthermore bouncing tracks with effects, down with the effects on, so that you dont have many effects active during playback. thats advice ive got before, but i dont really like to do that as then its more of a hassle to alter things, but you could try it. sometimes i just have to deal with it.

Yeah it would be the cracked massive. Backup your project. Remove all instances of massive (you said 3) save project with different name. Close logic, open this new renamed project and see if it still crashes.

Its all about deduction dear holmes

Blah, well I guess there was always going to be a downside to a free synth... being a bedroom music producer and DJ sure is an expensive hobby
