Z3TA+2 ... not bad... but...

Post by amphibian » Thu Sep 08, 2011 11:47 pm

How on earth do I get a vibrato style effect? If I assign lfo to pitch, I can't actually automate the AMOUNT of the LFO, which means I can't create that effect. Is there some other way to do this?

For the most part I really like it - there just seems like there's some things that have been missed (like pitch bend in massive).

there is pitchbend in massive, its under the OSC tab, then you set the max pitch and minimum value ;-)

Yesh there are a few quirks with this synth (no automatic parameter recognition in ableton, ect..) But f me does it sound FAT!!! Also how cool is the option to bounce audio straight out of the standalone?? Very cool would be the answer :)

oh, I like that. Do you have control over sample rate and bit depth in that bounce?

Not at home right now but yes, I know you at least have the option to record 16 or 32 bit wav straight from the synth. It might be standard 44100 rate though, not sure, but still convenient as hell imo. It's nice to be able to play around in stand mode and record for however long you wan and then edit the good parts later to be dropped in tha sampler of your choice ;)

I've found it to be really buggy tbh. Some things just don't work as expected, or work some of the time. Other things really impress me like it's envelope generators and lfo morphing. Also the wave-form tinkering you can do within the oscillators is pretty damn dope.

It definitely needs a few patches, and kinda pissed Cakewalk are so slow in getting it done. It feels incomplete. There's been moments where I've thought "why am I bothering with this?" then I find a feature I REALLY like and I forget about the bug.

goodeh - had no idea about that. haha. ty :)

Imagine if you bought a brand new car, and there was no exhaust system, didn't have any back windows, and was missing the front left tire. Don't worry, we'll be installing patches! Yeah, no. I Remember shelling out for Logic way back in the day and it was the same way, but that was close to $700 at the time. That was A LOT of money for me at the time, and kind of hurt my soul :( :) .

Whats that saying, you wouldn't download a car... yeah, well you wouldn't release a half built car either, fnckers.

Apples and oranges. You can patch software, but even so - basic features in a synth should work. I've had some strange LFO weirdness as well at times. I could understand if some aspects of the modulation matrix didn't work, or if the effects section had some problems - but when you have problems with the core aspects of a subtractive synth, it's too early.

It feels that way. It's got so much potential - imho it's a better synth than Massive, but it's buggy.

They wait 3 years to long to release it, and then released it too early. That is classy.

I bought it last week after I missed the free Z3ta+ form Computer Music. It's only 70 quid! bargain!
I've only really cycled through the presets so far and it sounds mental. I need to spend a day getting involved with it because i'm not even familiar with where things are yet. The routing is way different to synths i'm used to, anyone have any tips or links to tutorials to get me started?

TBH it looked proper odd to me at first too, but as soon as you start poking around i thought its really well laid out! honestly do what you say, spend a day playing about, i was surprised how easy it was to get to grips with!
