What's odd is that strictly speaking, I don't have perfect pitch (my brother does, but I just have a well-developed relative pitch). However, when I focus on on the colors I sense in my head when I hear pitch, I have an 80-85% accuracy rate.

For instance, to me - D is blue, E & F & F# are all differing shades of green, G is gray, A is white, B is red and C is orange.... so if I hear something in C (major or minor), usually I get a feeling of "orangeness", even without knowing that what I am hearing is in C.
Notably, I get a very similar spectrum.

im never sure what to make of the word synathesia, because i tihnk sound and vision are naturally very intertwined in our brains already...

Yes. It's not that intense man. I don't think it's even intense enough to classify as synesthesia, although I've never known these types of experiences any other way. They're very faint and only happen when I really get in the zone or try to pay attention. I have a friend with HPPD and from what I understand I'm not anywhere near that haha. I didn't do THAT many hallucinogens...

Don't worry, its not a bad thing. Infact in my opinion its a bit of a one up on the rest of the population. It'll make you a better musician, trust me. when I mix, I do so by taste. Each song and style has a cetain slight taste to me, and its all about blending the flavours. One tune will be running, i'll listen to the next in my headphones, if they taste nice together i'll drop it in, if not it's back rummaging around the record bag.

Be proud to not be just another citizen. :)

No, probably not completely nuts. just as nuts as the rest of us. Your fortunate that you can identify sounds with colours and shit. with me I cant tell any pitch or anything, I just get this little feeling about how sounds fit together so when they gel this little feeling or voice just says thats right, or if its wrong itll just say thats not good and ill search for a new sound. To summarise, we all have too much time on our hands.
