Vinyl Pressing
Yo, Anyone know any good sites to get individual vinyls pressed? Not for production, just for personal...
Cheers

Re: Vinyl Pressing
Can someone explain why you would want an acetate, when you can have vinyl dubs cut now?

Re: Vinyl Pressing
Haven't cut one (yet) but 12" acetates seem to be the most favored.claps12345 wrote:whats the difference, what would you suggest getting?

Re: Vinyl Pressing
Porbably because they supposedly last longer. Get the same tune cut twice on each and compare, only way you're gonna find out.claps12345 wrote:Yeah that seems generally, but pissedone seemed to think vinyl dub were better....

Re: Vinyl Pressing
i don't know where you can get those in the states...pissedone wrote:Can someone explain why you would want an acetate, when you can have vinyl dubs cut now?
i've also heard that those are not regular 'vinyl,' but rather PVC. anyone know?

http://www.google.com/search?q=vinylik& ... =firefox-a > Somewhere in all this is the answer to your question, these are what most of those guys offering 'vinyl dubs' are cutting onto, no clue what they're made of, but im sure I just not scanning enough links.eshscramble wrote:i don't know where you can get those in the states...pissedone wrote:Can someone explain why you would want an acetate, when you can have vinyl dubs cut now?

Re: Vinyl Pressing
PVC dubs have a different sound, a little brighter than acetate. They should also last longer, but frankly an acetate will last ages iif you look after it. They're also lighter since an acetate is basically a metal disc covered in a thin layer of material into which the grooves are cut.
I've got plastic dubs and acetates and both have their pros & cons...

what thinking said.
only way to answer this question for yourself is get something cut and make your own mind up.
