That's lucky, I've never had much success with potatoes. This was the first summer I tried a garden here, most of it died, Calgary had a weird summer this year. I've got a huge ass backyard but some pretty lame soil, and it wasn't close to sunny enough. It's always fun growing stuff though, even just flowers are pretty fun when they start blooming.

yeah did our garden up this summer in anticipation of bbq's/parties, even got a new bbq and fire pit. thanks to british summertime we have only been out in it properly once

And a little bit of planning means it could actually be pretty efficient - you put your water-lovin' stuff at the bottom (mint, cilantro, geraniums, etc.) and stuff that needs better drainage towards the top (rosemary, thyme, greens, etc.)

Sick! Nice effecient use of space that, might try it if I end moving to an apartment later this year.

I also thought about growing my own mushrooms off a log, all you need to do is drill a hole then fill it back in with mulch and inject some spores... I'd stand it up and get some kind of flowering vine to grow on to make it look pretty as well

If these mushrooms are to be ingested, he risk of contamination from other spores is pretty high - hopefully you know your stuff as far as species ID'ing. There's another method that uses an aquarium, a pane of glass, and a humidifier that's supposed to be aces.

Pallets are often treated with all sorts of chemicals, and are not the archetype of cleanliness.

Yeah, they say in the article specifically to find one that's been heat-treated and not chem-treated. Chemical-treated pallets would have “MB” stamped on it, while heat-treated pallets are stamped with “HT.” I'm not sure but am guessing that "MB" means Methyl Bromide.

Yes but they wouldn't be of the magic type (at this time), I'd probably grow something like cloud ear fungus because it's easy to cultivate

Anything fairly easy to grow in an office environment? my room has a south facing 9ft by 9ft glass window/wall and during summer it can get up to upwards of 38oc in there I thought maybe chillies or a nice looking plant!

Well, at least the garden's enjoying the rain. My Verbascums and Salvia Scarlets (NOT the smokable kind!) are starting to bud... somehow a NETTLE has made it into one of my pots! I'm almost tempted to leave it out of respect... crafty bugger.

The Trachelospermum Jasmina on my trellis has survived the winter and is growing a shit load of buds... gonna be full of sweet smelling blossom in a few months!

Oh, and the first flowers have turned up on my Mimulus... prrrrrretty!
