It's like Kenny G getting asked about metal.

Wouldn't mind hearing McCain's take on dubstep.

HAHAHAHHAHAAHAHAHHA

And he doesn’t make Dubstep himself anymore, just went in the OTHER direction. He’s calling out people too far left, and he’s gone too far right.

Kind of a hypocrite now that I think about it. :|

Yes but it's always nice when someone well known speaks out on it, like when Blackdown tore into it on his blog.
It's better than listening to the big names that just suck Skrillex dick all through the interview in order to get a release on Mau5trap. Waiting for that Skream and Benga release... any day now, lol

he seemed to be talking about where his music comes from, not trying to start a flame war ... that said, if he really didn't want a flame war, he shouldn't have made these comments in an interview that would be posted on the internet.

I wasn't the biggest fan of Order/Pan, but there's no denying that's dubstep. I swear, some people think that the moment he released Klavierwerke, he deleted Lock In The Lion and Air & Lack Thereof from existence.

Its like we are having the same thread and comments five hundred trillion billion times, who really cares about what is the most popular style of dubstep at the moment, why can't producers and DJ's especially on this forum just get on with spinning some CD's and vinyl or making tunes they like, stop worrying about what everyone else is doing and get on with doing what you love the most, making or djing tunes.

Either way, this 'brostep' style of dubstep will fade out at somepoint to be replaced with some other style, it always happens, will always happen and theres no way of stopping it.

Have any of you even heard his latest record for Hemlock?
Tunes are Bare underground fire. Minimoool step.
I wish more producers would step up with comments like this. James Blake is at least trying to do something new and is doing his own thing. If any "dubstep" influenced music deserves its place in the chart, it's that of the likes of James Blake and Jamie Woon. Not Jakwob, Skrillex or DJ Fresh (lol).... and he's keeping it underground at the same time doing his shit on Hemlock and Harmonimix (spelling?) thing.
Many people could learn from his example really...
And if you disagree, fine, but you're daft then.

James Blake, you rock!

He didn't just start chatting random shit. He was asked for his opinion. You don't need to produce dubstep to have an opinion about it.

Scuba on the state of dubstep:

Scuba ‎@David people hate dubstep because it's shit, which coincidentally is also the reason why it's popular. It used to be good, that's why some of the people who hate it now used to like it. Not sure what hats have to do with it either.

Yeah, heard plenty of producers saying the exact same thing this year in person but then in interviews go on raving about 'the state of the music, yo'. Blake spoke out with what he thinks. It's not even new, in 2010 he seemed to have the same thoughts. Besides he's intelligent and well-spoken, so who cares about other people's interviews if they'd be 'Yo like 2005 was really a rad year open my eyes 'n' all y'know, was goin' da first dubstep raves 'n' all?'.

I mean, you can hate on some kinds whatever you like or defend it fact of the matter is that this kind of music he is arguing against is being used at this VERY moment in so you think you can dance or America's got talent for dancing groups. Just saying...Call it pop or whatever but cut the crap about leftfield; The true leftfield artists coming out (Cloud Boat, Shlohmo, a bunch of brainfeeder) seem to want to stay well clear of the whole step thing altogether nowadays.
