this is why I always solo in the step sequencer using those little dots, that, and my mixer tracks become tangled routing messes.InternetSlaveMaster wrote:[In FL Studio] Was bouncing out a bass track, but accidently included a random hihat part too (it wasn't assigned to a mixer channel, so wasn't muted when I only selected the bass track in the mixer). When I listened to that hi-hat part in the middle of the track, it just randomly flanged and I was sooo confused. Realized it a few days later.

For my first month of using Ableton, I never realized there were Drum Racks or even Impulse...
Spent that time putting together 6+ audio tracks of each drum sample playing on one track each. >.<

Fairly new to the producing realm. Only been going about a year and a half.

Eryday day when I try to makle a decent reese patch in massive... I know its possible but I sure as hell can't get one
Re: Most embarrassing thing you've done producing?
I still do this now. I hate the drum machine and impulse! nothing wrong with that, it suits my workflow. For example my snare could be made up of 3 tracks with each different snare layer sample on each track, then grouped. The group is then effectively a bus. Works for me anywayAirgonaut wrote:For my first month of using Ableton, I never realized there were Drum Racks or even Impulse...

woaaaaah, you hate drum racks?
possibly the single most useful+flexible tool i've ever used in music production.
not saying anything wrong with doing it all in audio, just bit surprised.

This! The amount of flexibility it gives you witht he mixer/manipulation is nuts.symmetricalsounds wrote:woaaaaah, you hate drum racks?

Re: Most embarrassing thing you've done producing?
pretty much anything i wanna do it's capable of, not many other drum plugs give you the ability to drop synths into a slot the same way you would drop a sample in. also using the drum rack/impulse combo is amazing and also being able to do any combination of those things just mean a ridiculous level of flexbility.arktrix wrote:This! Thanks for the response and I've actually seen this video, but it's not really what I'm after. Let me rephrase my original statement: everytime I have a decent reese in massive and go to resample...Insahn wrote:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H8DqPIVGcZQcmgoodman1226 wrote:Eryday day when I try to makle a decent reese patch in massive... Haha I'm just posting to say that tune in your sig cmgoodman is wicked

Re: Most embarrassing thing you've done producing?
Thank god I'm not alone. I've made nearly every mistake in this thread so far

Re: Most embarrassing thing you've done producing?
Rendering a track and leaving a massive gap at the end so when I went to upload it on Soundcloud there was as huge silence.
Re: Most embarrassing thing you've done producing?
yeah man I have a few sets bounced into wavs so I could load them in a drum machine if I wanted. I've used drum machines for toms though, its easier to get the velocity right.symmetricalsounds wrote:pretty much anything i wanna do it's capable of, not many other drum plugs give you the ability to drop synths into a slot the same way you would drop a sample in. also using the drum rack/impulse combo is amazing and also being able to do any combination of those things just mean a ridiculous level of flexbility.arktrix wrote:This! im just partly lazy and partly stuck in old ways. plus it means I can really control the dynamics of the drums by automating different layers

yeah man whatever works, i would say though that it's worth knowing the full capability of drum racks you might be surprised at some of the things it can do.

Vouched. Drum rack is my favourite part of Ableton hahsymmetricalsounds wrote:yeah man whatever works, i would say though that it's worth knowing the full capability of drum racks you might be surprised at some of the things it can do.

ditto, my default set loads with a combo impulse-drum rack beasting combo. i could probably live with drum racks and operator alone.nnny wrote:Vouched. Re: Most embarrassing thing you've done producing?
Ok, sod it...
Way way way back when internet streams were all mono 32kbps, I made a track and (don't ask me how, I used to smoke a lot back then) right before finishing it inadvertently batch processed all my drum hits so that one channel was phase inverted. On a quick listen before mixdown it all sounded alright.
After uploading it to a long-since-defunct soundcloud-style site (mp3.com was it?), my mate sent me a mail telling me he really liked my new ambient direction. 'Not like you not to have drums in your track Bob', he said.

Wondered for a full hour why fruity loops was 'muted' - then realized my speakers weren't plugged in... FAIL
