Re: Relativity
http://www.pitt.edu/~jdnorton/teaching/ ... index.html this made a whole lot of sense to me. explains a lot of relativity in a simple way. can't recommend it enough!

the barman says "we don't serve faster than light neutrinos in here." a neutrino walks into a bar.

Re: Relativity
Haha i wasnt being facetious! Reading that Russell Stannard book when i was a kid really helped me get my head round the theory of relativity, really well explained without being too dumbed down.magma wrote:I wish I had. It's better than this thread. Time is complicated, yo.

Re: Relativity
Our best telescopes can see galaxies that are 12 billion years old.
The Universe is ~13.7 billion years old.
If we had a powerful enough telescope, would we be able to see the big bang?

Re: Relativity
If you had a telescope and sent it into space on a faster than light ship and turned it around and pointed it at the earth, would you be able to see the earth being formed?
and i think these faster than light neutrinos could certainly be true, all them little particles are well mental. Doesn't quantum physics and relativity famously not work together anyway?
