Loefah on the drum set! Tried staying true.

Post by Zakhopper316 » Tue Oct 04, 2011 2:20 am

Hey guys, I've done another dubstep tune and looking for some feedback. The song is called The Goat Stare and it's by Loefah. Also looking for my next one, maybe something heavier?

I really wanted to try and keep this cover as true to the song as possible and not muddy it up with a bunch of fills and stuff. Alot of "dubstep drummers" play really generic beats that are fast and loose and I think it can take away from the song sometimes so I really wanted to try staying true to the tune this time.

I would appreciate some feed back on my musical choices with this one more than my individual mechanics because I can't tell if I'm making the right call with some of my beats ya know so please be brutally honest! Part of me wants to sit back on the beat and let the tune flow and part of me want to really flair it up!
Also gotta say again, you guys are awesome on this forum for showing me some real dubstep!

hey man this one is loads better then your last, not just on song choice, but the way you played it out as well, really dig that boomy kick-tom drum youve chosen there, and quite liked the hats being actually human - hihats are where you can usually hear that EDM is made by computers and not people.

Also, did you whole room change color :o ... you coordinate that shit with the day of the week or something?

I personally preferred the Silkie cover, but your skills are undeniable. Top work :W:

jeez your touchy, I was making a dig at stuff that's hard quantized, not claiming some kind of superiority or expertise, calm yourself man.

I said usually hear it in the hats - plain true, listen to 99% of edm, hard quantized hats. Good job, you found a tune in that 1%. Doesnt change that there are millions of shit tunes in the world.

:?: I was never not calm ?
I actually didn't mean to offend you but I want to know whether the hats in that tune are from a preset or real... I don't know myself
