I don't know shit about macs/reason/computers
but couldn't you put the old files on a different external hard drive?

i dont have a different external drive lol thats the thing. i was just hoping that reason 6 contained all the factor sound bank items from previous versions as well as record.Mammoth wrote:I don't know shit about macs/reason/computersbut couldn't you put the old files on a different external hard drive?

i've been using reason since 3, and they have always rolled over things from previous versions into the next one. I think they pride themselves on backwards compatibility since reason is virtually a closed system. I dont have 6 yet but i would imagine they kept the tradition alive.

I would guess it probably does. But have any of you guys fully upgraded yet?? Any info on how well the audio integration is or how the new rack modules sound would be greatly appreciated. Hope it's as awesome as it seems!

Re: does reason 6 contain all of the old factory sound banks
i contacted props and reason 6 comes with all previous sound banks and more. and the audio integration is the same as it was in record. works good, although maybe not quite as many options as say ableton offers. but it does the trick. as far as the new instruments. they're all great. the delay is the tits and has some really cool features. pulverizer is very sick but i wish it had more filtering options like camelphat. and the alligator is perfect for what its designed to do...make rhythmic (gated) trancey leads. just google reason 6 and find the instruments to find out more...or download the demo.[asterisk] wrote:I would guess it probably does. but reason 6 is very nice, especially if you did not previously own record. if you did own record then its a small upgrade. luckily i got it for free because props was nice and i bought record just a couple weeks out of the grace period.
but fuck i wish they would add a nice freq analyzer and an eq where you can just click and drag the points. and yes i know you can use the vocoder as a freq analyzer but its barely usable. i mean i get that they're trying to make us mix with our ears and not with our eyes but its nice to be able to see whats going on where to make necessary eq cuts, boosts, to clear headroom or just perfect the mix, when you don't have very well trained ears.
Re: does reason 6 contain all of the old factory sound banks
Good, because I've deleted the old ones. Even if it didn't come with the previous banks it wouldn't be a problems, don't use it anyway, except for the effects combi patches.lyons238 wrote:i contacted props and reason 6 comes with all previous sound banks and more.
Got it installed but have not used it yet so can't comment on the new effects, but from what i've seen they look pretty quality.

i'm REALLY interested in this, it's starting to become something i'd consider running standalone rather than just rewiring...
can you use the split signals from the alligator as separate outputs?

^ give it a go...the ssl mixer is really nice to work with and the overall workflow is actually really nice too (- some of the routing). quickly switching between your rack, sequencer, and mixer with hot keys..and each instrument having its own mix channel instead of having to wire up 14:2 mixers everywhere...feels right.
i still am considering getting ableton this year but who knows. ill wait and see how im feeling when i have the money.

I wish I got record, I could pay 3 dollars for the fuckign upgrade lol

Re: does reason 6 contain all of the old factory sound banks
Presonally I actually enjoy using the vocoder as an EQ, moving the bars is actually quite nice compared to the MClass EQ

just checked this for you, yes all three bands have separate outputshasezwei wrote: can you use the split signals from the alligator as separate outputs?

Re: does reason 6 contain all of the old factory sound banks
i want a nice analyzer with a built in eq. would make things so much easier. i hate having to slap 3 mclass eq's on every fucking track
but i tell u what. im def makin good use of the pulverizer. its so quick to get something sounding nice and wobbing/modulating with it. the compression sounds amazing on it. i know its diff than a normal compressor but it really adds some punch/grit without flattening the entire sound. and the dirt knob is gold as well. really nice sounding unit. modulation is nice n simple too

thanks man! that'd make reason a perfect tool for overcomplex basslinesProject EX wrote:just checked this for you, yes all three bands have separate outputshasezwei wrote: can you use the split signals from the alligator as separate outputs?

Yeah, its more of a convenience thing. Alligator will allow you to effect each band all in the same box, like Ohmicide. Afterwards you can send them all out slit to drop your reverb chorus etc as well.lyons238 wrote:
