the plot was absolutely laughable and you could tell exactly what was going to happen

the film is proper marmite

but i proper rated it, and thought Gosling was great

the whole thing to me screamed of an homage to the old Western/Cowboy leading man, like in the soprano's when Tony keeps goin on - 'whatever happened to Gary Cooper' - to his therapist - 'you know, the strong, silent type'

so Gosling's character is a Driver, right... thats what he does. he tells you. he's 'yours for those 5minutes, anything that happens in those 5minutes im yours all the way' - thats basically his mantra; while he's there he's all action, when he's done he's done.

he seem to only be able to express himself in the real world by looks, smiles, slight suggestions of emotion and by contrast massive outburst of ultra-violence. his moral compass is seemingly steadfast, he puts on his jacket and he's a super-hero 'when he's behind the wheel of a car, there's nothing this kid cant do'

the whole thing is a parody, a dark satirical undermining look at the concept of the super-hero.

his character acts as a medium, for you to be driven through this story, this bizarre, almost ridiculous story, where real life collides with the movies.

so its stylised to fuck, his character is MEANT to come across like a moron, a freak of nature, the suggestions of him being autistic i dont take seriously but i can see where the idea comes from.

either way i thought it was wicked and was well entertained throughout.

On netflix instant watch they just included the Walking Dead series. Watched it all in a matter of days. Ended off unexpectedly. As soon as i found out i just saw the last episode in the first season i was practically devistated. :corncry: Seconds later i was surfing the web trying to find out if there was a second season released anywhere. Comes out Oct. 16th. Im counting down the days....

Lion King.

The 3D didn't really add to it, but it was sick seeing the Lion King in a cinema anyway. 5/5, always.
