hmm name change
Alright, Name change might be in order. More people know my music by "Dep One" Rather than "Depone" (pronounced Deepone), What do people recon?
Things like websites etc dont matter as its depone/dep one both ways in an url and email address. It also ties in with my 'dep stamp' logo thing (same as my forum avatar)
before anyone says, i know a name means shit these days, but id like some consistency!
I know this isnt strictly production related, but it is sort of...

Re: hmm name change
meh, whatever
If you prefer Dep one then your followers will "follow".
It`s just one of those things.
Lose a fan, gain a fan.
If you keep the link to gangsta shit in your sig, what difference does it make?
Folks will know you by your sound.

Matches your avatar as well.
You can thank me later.

Re: hmm name change
as someone who thought it was "Dep One" (sorry bout that, I figured it was like a graph writer name lol)
I say you keep your current name.
people call me "Fitz" "Fists" "Festa" etc...
Truth be told man, you have done some good things under your current name and changing it at this stage of the game is equivalent to chucking all that away.
just my 2 cents
it's hard to press the reset button nowadays

fister
Re: hmm name change
You have worked hard to get some nice cred attached to the name, unless you REALLY have to, I wouldn't.
People mispronounce stuff all the time, even when it should be obvious. Enduser put a "." in to make "End.user" for a while cos people kept pronouncing it "en-doosser"
I used to spell my name "Mad E.P." to make sure people didn't pronounce it Ma Dep, but people still got it wrong sometimes because some sites (and still do) list it incorrectly as Mad Ep... so it got mispronounced anyway.
What I would do instead is start flooding people's ears with the way you want it pronounced... Do up a free mixtape or two with your name dropped in it from time to time. Drop it in a few tracks - at least the promo versions of them.
I do it all the time, and it is the only thing that seems to work consistently.

Re: hmm name change
hahaMad EP wrote:"en-doosser"
I was guilty of that for a while as well LOL
and what Mad EP said was golden
beat the pronunciation down the throats of people. have a sample of your name and the way you want it said on all of your promo material
Re: hmm name change
you said a name means shit nowadays, i disagree! i think a name is important. for example the name funtcase makes me want to listen to his music less, it sounds obnoxious. Venetian snares, love the name and it makes me want to listen and to like his music, but i really dont.
I like Dephone pronounced Dee Phone, it has a sort of lo fi sound about it, i cant put my finger on it but it works IMO.

Re: hmm name change
You can imagine my name gets butchered quite a lot lmao. It comes from the famous Flight of the Conchords bit about the "Hiphopapotamus and the Rhymenoceros" and I just put a cheeky spin on it, but I get "grim noceros" "grimeynoceros" "grim e no cer os"(wtf?) Who gives a hoot, I think the individual track titles are more important once you actually have gained credibility, you know?
