Anyone got anything bad to say about these monitors?

RP5s and RP6s are great value. RP8s loose some value due to higher price range. Shop around and listen to them.

The krk range kicks tho. I've got the RP5s mated with a hi-fi sub and I'm very happy.

For the money, KRK's RP series are well worth it. I've had a listen to the RP8s and to my ears no complaints. Been thinking about getting a pair for a while now - personally I wouldn't go for anything less than the 8" woofer. With anything smaller, there's a chance of over-cooking the bass - a case of over-compensating the lack of frequency response. Then again, it all depends on your room and your pockets. I don't think there's a need for a sub with the RP8's - they go down to 45Hz or so, which is a low as you need if mixing for a club sounsystem.

You should also check out Event TR8's - they're pretty much the same price as the RP8's. Haven't listened to these but definitely will before deciding on anything.

I use RP8 and dig it, but it's like buying a bed...want a bed, go lay on a bunch, want monitors, go listed to a bunch.

Not sure about the sub thing. I've considered it a couple of times, but they one's I've looked at don't seem to offer a 'significant' bass response increase in order to justify the expense. I mix subs on my stereo, which has a great low end.

The RP8's got plenty of bass, and doesn't typically require a sub (which complicates your monitoring quite a bit), but the whole Rokit series have something of a "smile" which makes them a little bit too nice to listen to and less true / linear.

They do have attenuation for the highs though, so you can adjust them to tame the "chinese" in them a bit.

They're perfectly alright considering the price though.

this is my experience with em... not a huge fan (although the KRK ones... a few steps up can't remember model name but not RP... are SICK)

i got some event TR8 and i like them a lot (really good bass response flat down to almost 30hz!!!!) although again they are a little flattering... mind you so are most monitors at this price range....

like someone said already... hear em yourself to make a judgement about what's gonna work for YOU!
