Routing a hardware synth and kaoss pad

Post by stinjee » Fri Oct 14, 2011 11:21 am

This might be a really dumb question tbh, but fuck it i dont know how to do it. :u:

I am thinking of getting hardware synth and a Kaoss pad, so to see if i liked the workflow of a hardware synth i borrowed a mates microkorg and kaoss pad.
Problem is i dont know how to route it.
I have got it (korg) to work as a midi controller but ideally i want to be able to hear it through my daw.

My interface is a M-Audio fast track pro and my daw is fl studio, also i still want to be able to run my remote sl which is done via usb so dont see that been a problem,

so my quesion is how do i route the 2 pieces of hardware?

cheers

1/4 jacks from micro korg outputs to kaoss pad ins. Then from kaoss pad out to fast track pro input? (I think thats right anyway). Then select a mixer track in FL select the correct input from the drop down menu at the top and your away. It wont make a difference to your novation.

^yup, midi just transmits data 1's and 0's. if you want to heard the korg through the daw you have to setup like above. Then you will have to record/sample the instrument into your daw, what your levels and dont peak them preamps or the whole take will be a waste :(. I have done some sampling/hardware stuff but i prefer all ITB so i can manipulate htings at the data level instead of at the audio level just a pref. Kaos pads are this shiznit for live djing/performance though!
