bring up 2 projects (i use logic) to play to my friend to see what he thinks and has any advice etc etc
click on one project and play it to him, (all works fine)
click behind it, other project pops up and loads i play it to him. - except its a messed up sounding version of the track i had made, (had to stop it quickly and pretend it was a mistake lol)
afterwards i spent ages trying to work out what had happend, turned out that the first project had somehow copied its channel strips to the second project, but all the effects of the original second project were still there as of course was the Midi (i know wtf) so like a clav type sound became a piano, drums where just fucking retarded synthy sounds etc. Even after trying to restore everything i couldnt get it sounding as good as it was >:<

I had a synth sounding good, but kept on tweaking it on and on until it sounded like a mess... then hit Cmd+S for some reason...
couldn't get the same sound again!

((
happened a lot of times. Other one i can think of was oversaving "My Song" project file (default project name) which was actually a tune i liked a lot with a new project.. Sucks when you realize it like 3 seconds after

YOu use cubase right?
Just send the mp3 to steinberg, they should be able to rebuild the project file for you

Its not really embarrassing but I was working on my tunes at 4 in the morning one night. The girlfriend was passed out on the sofa so I had my headphones on. Out of the corner of my eye I thought I saw the door handle move. I looked back and after a second it started turning really slow. I clocked on straight away it was someone up to no good so I legged it at the door and flung it open to see two stunned chavs. Heres the sortof embarrassing bit. I opened my mouth and this weird fucarrrrrr growl sound came out, they shot off I started to chase but I still had the headphones on and my interface went flying. By the time Id got my phones off they were gone. Nothing was missing in the end though so I can see the funny side of it.

My english teacher gave me a weird look when I mentioned that as the musical instrument I played. Like the wtf stare. I had to give her the 'wiki wiki' dj motion to confirm what i meant.

I just realized I've been mixing all week using my gaming headphones instead of my proper studio cans. Yay! Back to the drawing board.

i feel like a total fool for this one....every track i started a few weeks ago panned to the left ear really bad but all the settings were fine. either way i adjusted everything to sound right only to realize when i played it on speakers it was only coming out the right speaker...
... turns out I had a build up of wax in my right ear giving me some brutal impaired hearing hahaha

I had a fucked up soundcard about 2 years ago, it could only play mono audio. So I produced a couple of hiphoptracks for this rapper, and only last year I listened back to the finished songs (vocalled and all) on my new soundcard and realized that the snare on 2 of the tracks was panned hard L SMH

Spending hours doing pre-mastering in FL trying to fix clipping when I realize I don't even have my audio settings set to my sound card.

Finishing an entire track then right before the export realizing that all the midi clip and notes are just a little too long, fix that then look down and seen i had accidently switched it to 5/4 time sig
