@riich: Nice work one again! Intros nice, I like the out of key feel for the raiser. Drop's got a good arrangement, I'd definately turn down the reverb a bit tho :P, Keep it up!

@eldoogle I really liked your track.. it's not usually my type of dubstep but it was cool.. I just found there was a slight lack of bass in the track, but that could be just me.

@Riich The bass in high freqs is a bit too high and the drums are weak, EQ it better.

@jetpack I didn't really like the synth so much after the drop.. but the idea isn't bad

@ dj Cappa, I like the strings and the arp in the begining but the drop could be more intense. It does flow interesting though, that high synth needs some eq.
The basses sound pretty cool, just watch your eq

@PitchedExpectations you have sorta a glitch intro but one freq in there is pretty harsh I think around 3-5 K is too high. Im liking the heavy metal feel of it all.
you have some fic basses but they need to balanced with a compressor.

@ Geeza I like the intro. I like how the bass in there right away. and your build isint bad I like the slow drop too. Everything sounds killer, you might wanna mix that bass up a little with different tones.

Heres my WIP

@sniperDUBB: atomsphere on this tune is mint really starts nice deep evil tone. got some nice bass sounds coming in as well.
@dookie: Nice groove going here, the basses compliment each other nicely.
@RIICH: i'm diggin this alot. love how the guitar works with the dubstep vibe. def got a nice signature sound there ;) finish this asap!
@jetpack: I like the perc. The high pitched lead 'oo' bit if you can call it that? sounds sweet. helps carry the groove well. good mix
@PitchedExpectations: Got a good industrial sounding production on this. That snare is epic. might need a tad fuller kick. Love that almost guitar sounding bass at the top end.

oh man now my track, i updated. I hope i haven't ruined it! I def need to work on the intro and drop on this song. But it gives you an idea of how the song is heading. I also did something a bit naughty and basically copied & pasted a 2min section of my song after the 2nd drop. One thing i need to work is my arrangements for sure! Any ideas of how i could progress this tune further would be awesome. you guys have been great so far!

FIltersnake: This is a cool track. A couple things, I would let the buildup continue for another 10-15 seconds, its got a great rhythm and the drop comes a bit early. I think extending it out will help build suspense and make it that much better because its a great drop. and also do some work with the drums for the drop to build suspense before the drop like triple kicks or something... also, maybe add in something to make the buildup "bounce" into the drop. maybe the vocals you brought into the track later on? Overall its cool brah. I like it!

Paradigm.. this is really cool dude. Those vocals are awesome.. Id love to hear more about how you did them :) I likehow the bass is dirty but sits side by side with the melodic vocals.. great combination. I would add in some more wobble movement and/or maybe solo the vocals again for a breakdown? got a lot you could do with this, cant wait to hear it finished!

DJ Cappa: i like the all of the sounds that you have going on here, its a great combination. There is something missing though... maybe its the way the different synths are sitting with each other, but I feel like some stand out more than the others, and some seem out of place for where they are... I cant put my finger on it exactly. I really dig the track and the sounds, but maybe work on how they all sit together in the mix? The yois/wubs are cool, id bring them out more and work on the other elements and i think this track will be a banger

Ok heres my latest WIP. My goal here was to use all new drum sounds and new percusssion elements. Using things like bongons, maracas, congo drums, clicks, snaps, etc. for a jungle feel. My first time working with these sounds, so EQ'ing to get everything to sit well was difficult but I think I pulled it off.
also, the bass is meant to sit in back and just kinda float around for an ambient atmospheric sound. So theres no big drop or anything. Also, im trying to test the limits of adding a stereo feelto the bass by expanding/spreading it. but id like some feedback on how it sounds. I dont want it to sound reverberated or tinny! so any input on the bass would be much appreciated. Let me know what you think of the different direction!

@Anne Droid: Cheers for the feedback, good ideas i can follow! Oh man this is a nice tune. So laid back. Good percussion. the delay effects are spot on. One thing i think that would make the wobble come in with more impact is maybe pan it so when it comes in properly it makes a bit more of an impact. Also you could introduce a drop maybe around the 2.30 mark and build it up for the more distorted wobbles. But overall nice groove and nice mix. thumbs up!

EDIT: doh. just read you didn't want a drop. obviously depends on the feel you want. you could change up the drum pattern instead.

@ paradigm this is really deep, i like the voices in the buildup and the drop is sweet. i like it a lot

@ filtersnake it sounds like the gain is too high, i would turn it down. other than that, its a a good track.

@ anne droid this is is a good head space track, it sounds like it would be good in a really early morning set. diggin it!

Here's a track I'm working on, going for a sort of tribal funk sound

Soundcloud

and another one, fun with squares and samples :]

Where I am in my dub. Ive been having problems with my laptop crashing running FL studio 10 and 4 instances of massive. Thus I did the update and it was worse. Turns out I just have a bug that makes me restart my machine for about 30 minutes before the session works. Then I can work for maybee an hour spurts. I have to save often, but I did get a little done. I wrote an orchestration part and a verse. Ill be reviewing tracks soon.

@Paradigm001 Listening through my monitors, the bass is a little too big. Kind of distorted, clipping a bit. Drums are comin' in smooth. I really like the vocals so far. Could use with some percussion behind them though. Oh god that drop... very nice, sounds good. Very Nero-ish. I'd turn down the vocals a bit, and maybe add some more cymbals.

@Anne-Droid I'm a huge fan of unnecessary percussion, so this is awesome for me so far. A good latin groove with tons of nice elements on top of it, giving it a smooth dance groove. I might add some high end on the 16th note synth, whatever it is. Not a fan of the bass sound... it's very thin and sounds cheap, but I like what you did with the cutoff and the lfo speed. It gets a little repetitive, but it's kinda supposed to be, so it's all good :]

All in all, i really like it.

Now mine... Not sure if we can submit remixes on here or not, and if we can't, feel free to let me know, but this is something I'm working on. It's one of my best and really shows that I'm getting better, and I'm really proud of it. Ignore the mixing. I have horrible speakers to mix with, and I haven't gone into my studio yet to mix them completely, so the mix is very very rough. Also, the bass might clip a bit, so I've turned it down. It's a remix of Gucci Gucci by Kreayshawn, and the main thing I want critique and advice on is how to get a 'bigger' sound out of the drop. It's too thin and lame right now. I need something to kick it into overdrive, and I can't think of what that is. Be harsh and thorough with your critique please!

Im not very good at feedback but here goes-

@atticuh, Sounding pretty good man, mad drums really interesting, I really like the bit at teh end,, I do feel as though its lacking a bit of bass weight though dude, where is your sub sitting? I would try a little boost around 45-50hz or layering with a low sine around there. maybe thats just me though, I like to feel em hehe.

@R3N3gAD3, I like it dude, good work with the vocal its sitting really nice, I like your percussion too.

@-AudioSoma- Really cool track! sounding very clean and professional, well done you sir :)

- SO here's what I have been working on.. on kind of darker more subby note..

Thanks Cappa, PitchedExpectation, and filtersnake for the feedback

@pitchedexpectation: too much white noise in drop
@filtersnake: i like the intro, idk about the drop tho, might want to put on some more effects/filters and spice things up, get some modulation in there for the main lil wobble that begins the drop but good sound design!

but DSF now i need your help!

Soundcloud

My attempt at this remix found out about this contest an hour ago,
http://soundcloud.com/groups/remix-comp ... -soon/info
wanted to do it, started it realized that the competition is over tomorrow. since this is only an hour of work I'm wondering if I should keep working on it and release it later or just try to put it in the contest as is...

any feedback is appreciated, i've never made dnb before but I couldn't resist with this song, (i would load up some basic reeses and beef up the drop but the .MIDI file the poster provided wouldn't open in ableton) any last bit pointers could really benefit me if you guys think I even have a chance!

ibscotty: Really feeling it man... not sure about some of the notes... some don't seem to sit well. how ever like it overall, even though it is on the darker side still has a kinda nice positive feel too! like the stabs... something i can never get right... if your up for it could you share how you go about doing it?

atticuh: not usual thing and pretty messy sounding... although by the end i was totally brought over to the sound! really into it at the end. listening again sounds a lot better however this needs to be achieved in the first listen! i would maybe leave it a little longer in the break before the little vocal sample comes in... let the silence breathe! apart from that keep it coming... like it so far!

Riich: imo opinion the snare in the intro section needs more work.. it kinda hides behind the synths. main section i'm liking the general vibe. pretty euphoric. but have you used any loops behind the beat as i feel it needs more to it. I it would really benefit from a reese which is side chained. something liek camo and Krooked would use. I think that would really set it off!

So heres what ive got now... first attempt at something properly minimal.. but ive kinda hit a brick wall with it and dont know where im going with it. any advice would be amazing cheers!

@eldoogle I'm digging this. Different!

@Riich It's ok, not my style and the drums could do with a bit more work.

Will add another when I find the batteries to my headphones

@GV1 : Love that intro man, although a bit cheesy i can still diggit. At about .42 it feels like the beat could change a little bit, maybe change the rhythm of the hats or something and make it abit jumpier.

@Riich: The build up is really good so far sounding great @.46 sexy bass drop at 1.24. the drop is nice, you should make the kick cut through more in my opinion though. about all i can say for that one, i like it a lot.

@NG Gamma: Nice percussion in the intro. Strings are really nice too. Snare sounds crisp and the shakers are a nice touch. Drop is good the bass sits really well. I like it, would enjoy some distant reverbed percussion in the background to add to the empty, minimal feel. Maybe introduce a new pad slowly next, with just the odd stab here and there, possibly building to something more. Can't really help with ideas but I like it so far anyway, keep it up.

@ibscotty: You have some nice sounds going on in the intro, that whooshy noise gets a bit annoying/samey after while however, maybe try keeping it exciting with subtle filtering or a phaser. Its nice when it kicks in but the odd note seems a little off, a little dischordant. I dont know if that's what you're going for. Would like a change up at 3:14, was sort of hoping it would go back into that tune. Maybe speed up the drums a little here and have a smoother rolling bassline where you can really get into it, stick some nice glitchy pads over the top of that would sound nice.

Would give more feedback but its 4.31 am as I've been up most of the night working none stop at my newest song!
Here it is, as always any feedback greatly appreciated. Its a lot darker than my usual stuff, but I sort of like the direction its going in.

@GVI your tune starts as soon as the page loads, just to let you know that could be annoying. Your track is novel and I like the bitcrushing of the song. The wobbles get a little repetetive. And maybee you have too many Izotope stutters on the vocal section, I think it would sound fine if you let it play out with a stronger beat. But If you like it then stick with it.

@stranger sounds, you have a nice punch drum sound, big ups on that. I like the tune but I wish there was more bass sound too it rather then a sub but maybee thats just how you roll. Track sounds nice.

@Riich I like the intro and the vocal remix. The kick is a little to soft. It could come up a little. I like the melodies but there seems to be missing a heavy drop. And when you change tempo I think you go to fast you should have kept it at 140 just do it breakbeat style. Good ideas though definitelly
