What's the deal with FWD?

Post by Stuuka » Fri Oct 14, 2011 12:05 pm

I'm actually living in Bristol for the moment, but got a call from a friend last night FWD has been changed up.

Apparently everything is shit now! Being an avid FWD fan i'm a little concerned!
The system has apparently been reduced, a lot more quiet not as weighty!

So i've been told a wall has been placed in the middle now, separating the bar and the dance floor. My friends even left early they said it was so bad, even during oneman! (which is definitely something you don't do!).

They said a couple of the artists were talking about how shit FWD was now.

Anyone been and can comment? I'm going home next week and worried ab FWD! aha!

The DJ booth has been moved etc, What do you think of the layout?

Whats your say DSF?

Basically, nothing they've changed has improved the club in any way. The system has definitely had a bit of a downgrade, at least audibly, could be to do with the new layout. I can't for the life of me think what made them do what they have done with the place. Oh and there's a constant security bloke in the dance floor area now too, so no chance of a sneaky zoot!

wow, I'd heard about the new layout but didn't realise it had that much of an impact on the experience as a whole?

been twice since it re-opened ... they were still working on technicals, so hopefully they can improve it ... but so far it's both lacked power and (perhaps more importantly) not been a clean sound ... the big win of the old system for me was that it was the cleanest sound i've ever heard.

i havent felt to go there for a long time, went to the opening one after it originally got shut down and didnt enjoy it, just seemed too much like any other small club and alot more strict than fwd used to be. had to empty everything in ur pockets and they were taking peoples rizla off them... nahhh.

but havent been since, so know fuck all about it now. heard theres a smoking area now with constant security though... no more nipping to the off license for a couple beers with your cigarette.

never understood why clubs would take your rizla off you? makes zero sense.

if it's that bad and the even the djs are slagging it off, they'll probably just move it to a different club, right? as long as the soundsystem is good that wouldn't be such a bad thing.

its definitely not got any better... they seem to have limited the size of the floor by boxing it in...
to be fair wouldnt care about the layout if the soundsystem is proper, but there are definitely some teething problems there...
being such a small room, it can't be hard to achieve some proper weight so surely it will be sorted out soon enough
to be honest the smoking area has been rigidly enforced ever since it reopened so no (recent) change there...
I havent had anyone take my rizla off me there, ever
still going have a quality night there, hope they sort out the sound...

very strange stuff... the idea was so straightforward: tons of bass, no frivolities.

i'm guessing they had to cut the sound due to complaints from the restaurant?

interesting, but i'm not surprised.

sound was just okay at kryptic minds/n-type in september... acceptable for a freshly reconfigured club i guess, but unforgivable when it only got worse for ben UFO's rinse cd launch and youngsta. you could feel the frustration of everyone involved in the whole vibe of the place, from the djs to the ravers. i held a conversation at normal volume bang in the middle of the dancefloor :a:

i don't think i'd go back to PP until i heard some of those issues had been sorted out.
