Finding similar dub to the dub you dig.
I am really frothing over this track called 'Sail-AWOLnation (slim thugz remix)' it is definitely my favourite 'style' of dubstep. However, I struggle to find any dubstep like it. For alot of new listeners, like myself, it's hard to break down dubstep into defined genres and search for similar tracks. I guess I would describe other tracks like 'Eyes on fire - Zed's dead' and 'Joker- The Vision' as suiting my particular tastes. In the sense that they interlace vocals alongside the wicked dub drops we all love. If anybody could define what genre I'm listening to and recommend anything similar to the afore mentioned tracks it would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance, Jimmy.

i guess it would depend on where u heard the tune, was it at a dance or on radio etc... look for other stuff by the same dj who dropped it, or search for the producer on soundcloud and have a look at who he's following

I think all the stoners are posting in the wrong forum. I'm not after Reggae dub. Have a listen to the first track I mentioned http://soundcloud.com/slim-thugz/awol-n ... hugz-remix. Drop at 1:05 hook at 1:50. And it's a free download if you dig it.

You need to appreciate that Dub and Dubstep are two very different things. Your use of the word Dub in the title of this thread appears to have confused matters somewhat.

Fuck. Like I said I'm new. I kind of just thought ad-libbing the word Dub was kind of synonymous with using the word in it's entirety. I'm still learning- But loving- this genre.wub wrote:You need to appreciate that Dub and Dubstep are two very different things. In answer to your original question, I'd suggest checking out other tracks by the same artists, other remixes they may have done, other releases on record labels they are signed to, and then going from there.
Once you start doing some research on who released what on where and who remixed it and when and what else they've done, you're quickly find a spiders web building up of different artists/songs/labels to have a dig through.

Well. at least people are posting. I'm from Australia and there isn't really a dubstep community that strays away from mainstrem dubstep like skrillex etc. Props to the guy but he's just not my steez. I'm going to attempt another forum topic without the misleading topic title. Thanks anyway.

No different to finding stuff in other genres. In fact, it's probably easier in electronic music, due to the presence of DJs that actually play stuff you haven't heard before.
