Burial makes tunes that really fit a certain vibe. I really started appreciating certain tunes at certain moments, like things started to make more sense somehow. It took me about a year to get into his second album, and even 2 years to get into his first one. Now he's my favorite artist (in any genre, not just dubstep).

Next to that it could be that Burial (and the other Hyperdub artists) just isn't your type of music. Nothing wrong with that. I've been trying to get into Massive Attack's old songs for a while now, but I just don't seem to like them

this is a really vague statement, it seems as if you think that hyperdub only release burial style music, you tellin me that you dont like any of Burial, Kode 9, Cooly G, DVA, Ikonika, Zomby, Joker, LV, Ill Blu, Funkystepz?

I'd never heard a sound quite like Burial's. So spacey, cold, and haunting. The crackle of the vinyl, the dirt and noise of the drum samples, the strangely detuned voices. It's all so different from the usually clean and tight world of edm music.

Burials a badman... but i can understand that sometimes you have to be in a certain mindset to listen to alot of his stuff

and for hyperdub.... without that label there would almost likely be no quarta330 and he is one of the most creative producers ive ever heard

there are only two burial tracks I don't like; Spaceape and Raver i just think the albums can do without those tracks. I can pretty much put any of his music on and enjoy it, but I think that what context you listen to it in enhances it so much. For example after a night out of listening to absolutely terrible music and rubbish mixing at my local clubs just because some friends (& lady-friends) of mine like it there, you go home its like 4-5am put on a burial record and it makes up for the torrent of wank you've had to endure.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying, I just can't get into any of the artist. Cooly G and Iknonika are the only ones who I really dig. I'm not asking people to make me like them, I'm just asking to help understand what you guys "feel" so powerfully about their music. Zomby is alright too.

:o Raver is one of my favorite tracks... Agree on Spaceape though, it doesn't really fit with the rest of his music.

I was like OP for a little, but like everyone says, it might just click for you one day. I don't really like most of the Hyperdub crew except Burial. It just doesn't really do it for me :P

Listen to Ghost Hardware by Burial on your headphones, while walking through London on a brisk wednesday evening, after just breaking up with your girlfriend, then it will click

Dont be so harsh. I'd give 0.5 for knowing who Burial is. then id take it away for thinking he can remix it

Oh I was referring to the trolling attempt. I'd give the tune itself like -3/10 :)

I'm with the OP on this one! Burial and Hyperdub lot make the most boring music known to man! Sure they have talent I can see that but there music does nothing for me what so ever! I do like my deep stuff but not really into minimal stuff

What I have come to find about minimal music is the following.
And before I start, Minimal in anything: dance music, ambient (post)rock, jazz, hiphop...you name it...

People who generally do not appreciate minimal music, are most often the people for who music is more a commodity than an art.
In other words, people for who music adds something to an experience, but doesn't define the experience. I'm not saying either is better.

If your music is all about dance, going crazy, singing along....that's good. But I like to sit down, and actually LISTEN from time to time.

LOLOLOL, minimal. What exactly is minimal about, say for example, Black Sun?

South London Boroughs? THE BASS!

Digidesign?

BOOMSLANG BOOMSLANG BOOMSLANG

Quarta 330's remix of 9 Samurai?

Think you seriously need to reconsider what you think constitutes a minimal tune.
