Re: Office Steppers
i need some inspiration to spark my motivation drive. I've been in this rut for months and im having so much trouble getting out of it. It usually starts when i attempt creating a good atmosphere for my tunes. I fail almost every time and i just lose intrest. I've made about 20 intros since i writers block hit me but nothing more than that. I need help, i miss making music!

Find a tune you like, listen to it on repeat and make notes as to how you think they've made certain sounds. Then try to recreate it.

One song im just in love with right now is Wishful Thinking by Kromestar. The pads he generates in that tune are amazing, everytime i hear it i have to move. I really feel a sort of adrenaline rush listning to it. Thanks wub, im going to try that.wub wrote:Redderious wrote:i need some inspiration to spark my motivation drive. How long does it usually take for you all to create a track? My friend suggests just sitting down with my daw and give it all my attention untill its finished. I havn't been able to do that so usually i just make pieces every day over a long period of time.

It's a split school of thought tbh. I don't believe you can 'force' creativity. If I sit down at my computer and nothing is going on track wise, I'll probably do something else (patch design, messing about with effects chains, beat slicing, resampling etc) instead.

I find myself creating patches alot more than i find myself working on tracks. Fun to kill some time.wub wrote:Redderious wrote:My friend suggests just sitting down with my daw and give it all my attention untill its finished. I just watched Distance's tutorial on creating pads using Massive. Seems like basic stuff but i can never create something that gives off as much atmosphere as that. Going to take some more time and watch a few more of his tutorials, it should help and youtube tutorials is something i haven't tried in a very very long time.

I'm speed networking, how is everyone today? Tell me a little about what you do.
Re: Office Steppers
I manage a global team looking after integration services at the world's largest telecomms group. I have unrestricted Internet, divide my time between DSF, pissing about, and resolving issues (usually via conference calls), and in the evenings and weekends I go to the gym, smoke weed and listen to loud music.

Re: Office Steppers
Sadly, not. My office hours most days at 7-7, then go to the gym for a bit, get home around 9, eat, then either a movie, make beats, or piss around on the decks until about midnight.
